Taking meds at night?

How do you do it? If your LO is sick with a fever at night how do you give them meds to get the fever down?

DS woke up with a fever last night. He's 4 years old. He was so tired and out of it, but refused to take Children's Advil and got mad everytime I put a cold washcloth on his hea.
He wouldn't take a drink either (I put the meds in there hoping he would take it).
Was in and out of sleep all night and warm all night. Finally this morning I got him to take the Advil and eat a little something. Now he's finally feeling a little better and the temp dropped.
Just hate that I couldn't give it to him last night so he could've slept.
Advise?

Taking meds at night?

My DD is 2 and I still use the syringe for medicine. She has never fought me on it and I plan to continue to use that until she is old enough to understand that she has to drink the meds.

I know you said your DS is 4 yrs and he is old enough to understand the concept of drinking the meds but in the situation you described above I would use the syringe.

I used to do that when he was younger, but know he would just push it away. He wouldn't take anything or let me put anything by his mouth. Stinks, but just glad this morning he was fine with taking the Advil and his temp went down.

My DS will spit medicine right out. Last year he was so so sick my ped recommend i give him a Suppository. I hated doing it but honestly it was easy & he was better instantly.
