Taking my wedding rings at lunch to be steamed...
our jeweler is in the city and there's no way I'm getting there soon; there's a store near my job I hear good things about so today I am taking the set to be cleaned. I know to have him do it in front of me...but I also want to get them polished. I have a few tiny scratches on the platinum setting of both my e-ring and wedding band. Minor, but still. Will polishing remove them?

DH had to replace a diamond in his band and it was scratched beyond belief.
It looked brandy spankin new when he got it back. 
I'm sure they can fix the scratches.

they are scratches that just come with wearing rings daily...but they annoy me!

Polishing should fix the scratches!
And you're right - only do it if he'll do the cleaning and polishing in front of you!

Nice! Yeah I have some scratches...however, from wearing my e-ring flush against my wedding band, one side of my ring is "lighter" where the metal rubs against my wedding band....so to make it so that that happens to one side only, I make sure to put my e-ring on the same side each day. Crazy, I know. And I'm sure the mark will come right back as soon as I put them together again after polishing!

I've had my rings cleaned many times and they have never done it in front of me. Where will they do it in front of you? The machine has always been in the back of the store...

noooo....always have the steamer out front. the only person who has EVER taken my ring in the back is that family friend we got it from....

You need to get them polished. My DH gets it done for me. He has a friend that is in the jewlery business and he's a former detective (that's how my DH knows him).
Once I get them polished, my ring looks gorgeous and huge.
