Taking pictures of 2 kids is impossible
AGHHHH !!! It is impossible to take pictures of a 21 month old and a 5 1/2 year old. My holiday pictures are going to be awful this year . I cannot get them to sit still at all.
Any suggestions?

I totally agree. When my SIL visits, we take her 2 kids and my 1 to Kiddie Kandids. They can take all 3 of their pictures separately, and then but them all together on 1 sheet. They do a great job. They can do this with the holiday cards also. Give it a shot.

I just do individual shots and put them both on the same card. Shutterfly and all those sites have templates where you can put in multiple photos.

Oh yes, I'm dreading the holiday pictures!!
My friend has 3 children and last year she photographed them individually--each held up a different sign: peace, love and joy. She then had them printed up by Shutterfly or one of those online photo places.

Please, you don't have to tell me! I know! I did a collage card last year, where I had separate pictures of them.

Re: Taking pictures of 2 kids is impossible
Home photos are relatively easy. We have two DC 3 years apart. I can usually get DS to hug/hold DD for a little while (see current avatar), and he usually follows stage directions, so I keep snapping away until something comes out. DW helps by either standing behind me and getting their attention, or standing just off frame, then readjusting them. When they are pretty well positioned, we do a quick 3-2-1, then she lets go, gets out of frame, and I take a few quick shots.
Yes, it still takes a few dozen shots, but it's digital, so who cares.

Re: Taking pictures of 2 kids is impossible
I find taking my own pics are IMPOSSIBLE. That is why I find it worth it to spend a little more $$$$ and take them somewhere. They seem to alwyas be good when I take them.
Im going next week....I hope they are good

I thought that too but the professionals can't even get my 2 to sit still.

Re: Taking pictures of 2 kids is impossible
I did a collage last year for the very same reason. The only way I was able to get Joseph to stop poking Maddie & to sit still was to tie him up in Christmas lights. The original shot was supposed to be a close up of their faces looking at the lights.
eta. if you have separate pictures & you want me to do a layout for you, fm me.

Re: Taking pictures of 2 kids is impossible
A lot of sites offer collage layouts which I considered last year with my 3. I did finally get a good shot of them but the outtakes are hilarious. If you do choose to do them yourself, I think the first thing to do is keep the clothes and props simple. Nothing's worse than finally getting the kids smiling and sitting still only to see your daughter's skirt riding up or the collar of your son's shirt all twisted. I bought matching holiday pjs for my kids and am going to try with them just sitting on the couch. I've done this before with 2 and the pjs are cute.

Re: Taking pictures of 2 kids is impossible
HA! I can't even get ONE kid to sit still for her pic. How do you guys get those cute posed pics with a 10 month old?
I have a great shot idea with props and even a black backdrop and I can't get her to SIT!

Re: Taking pictures of 2 kids is impossible
Tell me about it!! Sadly, this is one of the only pics I have of the 2 of them together. Ryan by himself is hard to get a pic of, but him and Erin, it's almost impossible!!
I had to sit him in front of the TV with the Wonder Pets on, and quickly have her in his lap/arms. Image Attachment(s):
