Taking your baby/toddler into the pool
My DD is 15mths and has never been in a regular pool..only the small baby pool we have in the backyard. We are going to have the use of a private pool this summer and want to make the most of it with her. What is the best way to approach this? Should we just take her in our arms, buy one of those little floats that she can sit in or are there flotation vests for this age? I just want the best and safest way to start her off.
She is not afraid of the water and loves getting water on her face so I dont think that will be an issue.
Any advice BTDT moms...
TIA

Re: Taking your baby/toddler into the pool
The very 1st time we took DD into a pool we held her and let her splash around. The 2nd time (very recently and about 6 mos from the 1st time) we held her for about 5-10 mins so she could get used to the water then we put her in one of those floaties. She loved loved loved the water. We even let her stand on the steps without a float.
My DH also dunked her a couple of times so she would learn not to keep her mouth open when under water. We're still working on this though.

Re: Taking your baby/toddler into the pool
Thank you...our daughters are nearly the same age. I think I will get her one of those floats and use it some of the time while allowing her to get used to being in the water the rest of the time with no plaything.
