Re: Talk to me about Great Wolf Lodge
I was just recently looking into this again!
My friend at work went around the 4th of July (the weekend after I think). They stayed one night.
The day you arrive, you can check in at 3 or 4pm, but you can use the waterpark from earlier, just leave your bags in the car I think, unless they happen to have a room ready earlier (which was the case for my friend).
Then you can use the park the entire next day until closing (9pm I think). But you have to check out of your room by noon-ish.
If you stay more than one night, they sometimes run a special for 20% off the second night.
I think she said it was about 2 hours away from her in Queens. She said it was a nice and easy drive.
The cost of the waterpark is included with the night's stay.

Re: Talk to me about Great Wolf Lodge
We LOVE it there! It's a bit of a sensory overload when u first walk into the water park (josh was scared the first 10 minutes bc of the temp. Difference, loudness, and huge big bucket splashing down right in front of us. But 10 minutes later he was loving it.) We go usually for 2 nights and have discussed staying 1 more. But 2 is perfect. The rooms are large and nice and u have a fridge and microwave which is a must for picky eaters! U can also order in from a ton of restaurants to the hotel or they have some good places near by to eat. It takes usually 2 1/2-3 hours from queens. I love it bc it's so easy to have everything in the hotel so we actually never venture out. They have an arcade too that josh likes. I get coupons once in a while, if u want I'll send them to u when I get them.

Re: Talk to me about Great Wolf Lodge
We had a fantastic time there. Things to know before you go: prepay for the breakfast brunch if it is on sale. You cannot get the sale price or add it on when you get there - so it will be $$$.
The weather inside the hotel/park is 85 degrees. They have vests for children that is included in the price of admission. It is absolutely a sensory over load when you walk in, but it is a lot of fun. They have a great area for the little ones and also a fun area for big kids. Try to go when they have a sale otherwise it is expensive.
At night they have story time. All the kids came in pjs.
DH and I both said that we have to go back again.

Re: Talk to me about Great Wolf Lodge
One thing about Great Wolf that stinks is that the little one are NOT allowed to sit on your lap to go down the tube rides. So if they are not big enough to sit in the tube alone they can not go. Jordan could do everything alone but Peyton(who had just turned 2) could not do any of them. She did however have lots of fun in the smaller kids play area, lazy river, and pools.

I noticed a lot of 42" heigth requirement.
DS is 38".
What will he be allowed to do?
I checked their website and pretty much the toddler/young children description is "5-12 yo" or 42". I am glad I was looking for "toddler activities".
I saw nothing for actual toddlers and young kids.

There is a few slides that they can go down( you can catch them at the bottom) They land into a giant shallow kiddie pool with some things for them to play with. There is also an area you walk and climb through with water guns and sprayers. A big bucket that dumps on them. They can go in the wavw pool and lazy river. They can go in the regular pool too. There was plenty to keep Peyton happy. She has no fear and just really wanted to do the big slides like her sister.
eta: there are a few pics in an album, you can check them out
