i don't have them but a friend of mine does and loves it. He's told me that he ends up making more energy than he uses which means that the electric company pays him at the end of the year. However, the payout is so small that he found it more worthwhile to stop using his oil heat and buy electric space heaters and "waste" electricity (so his oil bills are smaller and it makes more financial sense).

I am also getting solar put up. I have a few friends that recently got it and their LIPA bills have been next to nothing and they are generating credits. The company doing the solar had recommended also to not take the money back but instead of using the credit but doing things like installing an electic hot water heater (instead of using the oil).

We have panels and it covers all of our usage. We pay a small connection fee to LIPA each month, about $8-10. We have a ductless ac unit that also produces heat. We use that in our living space during the day and oil heat at night.
