Talk to me about Mohonk Mountain House

It looks beautiful and isn't too far.

What is there to do? Is it too much of an older crowd? Is it worth the $?

DH is reluctant since it's $ and he read they don't have TVs

TIA....we need a weekend away

I went there years ago with my family. It is a gorgeous place. I highly recommend it. Just so you know there is a dress code (jackets for men) in the dining room, and yes no tv but I think I read somewhere you can rent one for the room if it means a lot to you. Last I checked there is no air conditioning depending on when you are thinking of going if that matters to you. There are tons of activities and it is gorgeous in the spring - there are lots of trails to walk and I think they have carriage rides still.

I plan to go back but I was waiting for the girls to be old enough to enjoy some of the activities. Nice place though for a couples weekend if you want peace and quiet.

My husband and I went Feb 2009 for one night- Thursday night b/c it was cheaper then weekend. I must say MMH was empty, I don't know if its b/c of the economy or what but ot was so quiet, they upgraded our room, and yes, there is NO TV, howver, it didin't bother us. We went snow shoeing and ice skating and it was nice just to get away. At first the price sounds like a lot but you get 3 meals- nicely prepared and the food was good. I would highly recc it. The grounds are beautiful.
