Talk to me about Spin class

I've recently joined NYSC and I would like to try Spin. How difficult is it?

Re: Talk to me about Spin class

It's one of the most intense workouts!!! But it's addicting!! You butt will KILL YOU afterwards but it gets better..your butt gets used to the seat and it wont hurt after a few classes.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE spin!!

LOVE spin--I take it at NYSC also.

It is a great workout. IMO not as intense as kickboxing or running, it may depend on the person though bc some people tell me they think it is more intense then the workouts I named.

Either way--great cardio.

Re: Talk to me about Spin class

What do you want to know? Chat Icon I am a certified spin instructor and LOVE it. It can be as intense or as relaxed as YOU want to make it...your instructor is just there to coach you through the class. I stronglyr ecommend getting a gel seat to make yourself more comfortable. Bring at least 1 bottle of water (i always bring at least 2) and a towel because you will sweat!

Go at your own pace! I always tell my new students that the goal of the first class is to get through it then come back for the second! They get easier each time you take it! Feel free to message me if you have any questions!

Thank you! I haven't been actively working out for a long time so I'm doing 30-40 minutes of cardio on the bike, treadmill and elliptical. I do rollerblade and bike on weekends though. DH told me he sees people always bringing the gel seats into the class at his gym. Where do I get one of those? I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to passout after I do the class Chat Icon

Re: Talk to me about Spin class

I used to do spin all the time-I loved it. I wish I could find a spin class around here that would work with my schedule.

It is hard but you go at your level. As you do it more frequently, you learn about isolation and add in more strength.

I think this was the best work out I've ever gotten. I felt so good afterwards.

Spin is as hard or easy as you want to make it. As a first timer be conservative with your tension and speed and pace yourself to get through the 45 or 1 hour class. When you finish class you can then determine if next time you need to use more speed and tension or stay the same...you will then have a way to guage yourself.

Towel, water and I prefer capris or tight bottom pants...shorts tend to ride up and be uncomfortable.

Good luck and have fun!
