target heart rate for burning fat?
anybody know how to figure this out?? I've been googling for a while now and can't find any websites that give a real answer. They just keep saying what my heart rate should be, but I want to know what I should be at in order to burn fat, not just in everyday life - ya know?

Re: target heart rate for burning fat?
for burning fat your heart rate should be about 60% of your total. It should be around 120-130. But it really depends on your age and fitness level. Cardio is 80% of your total which should be around 140-170 again depending on your age.

For max fat burn you want to be at about 65% of your max heart rate (220- your age). For me that's around 130. though I workout a lot higher than that and still burn a ton of calories. For max cardio benefits you want to be at about 75%.

Re: target heart rate for burning fat?
I run and my heart rate is anywhere from 160-180, depending on how hot it is but that is within my zone for my age. But i think if i want fat burn it is like 130-140 but that is such a low heart rate i have to run SO SLOW or do the eliptical SO slow to achieve that!
