Re: Tasting menu NYC
Babbo. It's Italian. Difficult to get reservations. I made mine for this sunday(Super Bowl) 2 weeks in advance and still couldn't get the time I wanted
I highly recommend blue hill at stone barns. It's a farm to table with a few tasting menus. It's upstate(not far). They have a restaurant in manhattan but no tasting menu.

DH and I did Blue Hill for my birthday a few years ago - I think we did 7 courses, a bottle of wine, and the dessert course - I think it was over $500 for the two of us. But we both can't wait to go back, it was a real foodie experience, we loved it.

ITA. Per Se is still my favorite hands down, but getting a reservation when you want it is really difficult. DH said it was the best meal of his life

I agree but so hard to get a reservation. You have to call right at 10am one calendar month ahead.
We’ve had the tasting menus at Jean Georges, Eleven Madison Park and Daniel and they were all excellent & easier to get a reservation than at Per Se, but I still made them a month in advance.

Re: Tasting menu NYC
my favorite place for a tasting menu is Trattoria Lincontro in Astoria It is not offered on their website nor is it on their menu. But when you call to make the reservation you can tell them you would like to do a xx number of course tasting menu (we get a waiter named daniel and he is fantastic). you can basically pick your menu or what we prefer to do is tell him what we DONT want and let him pick for us (ie - no lamb or no veal). You can also just pick one or two of the courses you want and let them pick the rest. DH and i go there every year for both of our birthdays and recently just had a group of like 10 do the tasting and everyone was so pleased with it.
