Tax question..can you claim medical ?
can you claim co-pays for dr. and prescriptions? my CPA has a spot to fill in for what your spent on medical?

yes but it is an itemized deduction. the deduction goes with other medical expenses you paid out of pocket. the amount starts at 7.5% over your adjusted gross income. so you have to have 7.5% more than adjusted gross income to deduct as a itemized deduction.

I supply my medical info to my accountant. In NJ we can take over 2.5% on our state taxes but I don't know if that is for AGI or MAGI.

Correct. And expenses should be reduced by any reimbursements you may have received.
To the other poster, for NJ purposes, that state allows you to deduct medical expenses in excess of 2% of your NJ Gross Income
