Tcikets for Broadway Shows that are sold in Times Square?

I hope I explain this right!

There's a place in Times Square that sells tickets to Broadway shows for a fraction of the price. I believe it's a stand-alone building where people line up to buy these tickets.

Does anybody know what I'm referring to??? I was wondering if it has a name or if it's run by Ticketmaster?

It's TKTS and it's run by the Theatre Development Fund, completely unrelated to TicktMaster.

TKTS ETA: if you're a teacher, you're eligible to join TDF and for $25 a year you have access to amazing deals all year.

Also, for cheap/free tickets you can also join TheaterMania Gold Club and Audience Extras. With those you can get free tickets when shows are trying to "paper" their house for some reason, like a press night.

We wanted to get DH's parents a gift certificate for "TKTS" because they use that quite often! I didn't want to get a Ticketmaster GC if they were unrelated!!!
