TDap Vaccine
Is there any workaround to have to go to a primary care doctor to get this vaccine?
Long story short, I don't have a primary care doctor currently since I moved over an hour away from my old one. I tried calling a few CVS's and none of them do it. Help!

Re: TDap Vaccine
My OB gives the Tdap at 30 weeks. I think it's pretty standard for OBs to give the vaccine.

Re: TDap Vaccine
That's weird! I got it from CVS but the story is kinda funny...
My OB didn't have it either... so I went to CVS with a prescription from my OB as instructed... They had it, but wouldn't administer it to me. So they gave me a syringe and vial! I gave it back to them and said I'd come back and pick it up when I had my next OB appt. I picked it up on the way and the next time they gave me just the vial and my OB administered it.

You can get it at the hospital. My ob suggested I get it but didn't give me any instructions or act like she was going to get it so I'm like ok I guess I'm getting it at the hospital again like I did in 2013. I keep hearing how everyone got it so early in their pregnancy and here I am 39 weeks and it was just mentioned.

I think it's good for 10 years. At least that's what I was told.

It's recommended now to get it with each pregnancy around 30 weeks. I didn't get it last time until after DS2 was born, but that was because I had a reaction to the old formulation as a baby and just wanted to make sure I could handle the vaccine. Since I didn't have a reaction, I got it while pregnant this time because it's supposed to provide some protection for the baby.

Interesting. I didn't even get it while pregnant with my DS because I was asked if I had it in the last 10 years, and I had. Maybe the rule was different in 2013.

My OB didn't have it. I was going to get it at work (hospital) but never waddled my way over the employee health to do it so I ended up getting it in the hospital after she was born.
Everyone thinks I got it beforehand though, because I made all the grandparents get it!

My OB and some of his colleagues don't believe in giving the shot to a PG woman as they haven't seen enough data to show that it really passes on to the fetus to help in any way. I asked him about it. I received the shot in the hospital after giving birth and they asked me if I wanted it. I had whooping cough in my late 20's and it was no fun at all.

Re: TDap Vaccine
If you're near the city, the Duane Reade clinics have the TDAP. At least they did 2 years ago.

Re: TDap Vaccine
My OB never even mentioned it to me. In the hospital they assumed I'd received it during pregnancy & when I told the nurse I hadn't, she gave it to me before I was discharged.

I got it at my OB with my first pregnancy, but I imagine they can give it to you at the hospital. DH did his at the hospital after DD was born.
