not pg, just trying to figure things out and if you were due in September, what did you and your admin. do with the class?

Re: Teacher moms---what happens if you are due in September?
I was due in November and went out in October. The school had a leave replacement all ready to go for me. If you were due in September, your school would probably make all the arrangements over the summer.

Re: Teacher moms---what happens if you are due in September?
I was due in June and planning a meternity leave. I told them my plans, they had a leave lined up, but my union said not to put anything in writing to the district until the baby was here. Although you could probably put in for our 6 paid weeks starting in Sept.
It is so tricky, my union was pretty helpful and kept my pg secret until I was ready to share

Re: Teacher moms---what happens if you are due in September?
I was due on the first day of school this year- September 4th. I didn't have her until the 9th. I set my class up in June and covered everything in plastic so that no matter what happened I was set. They had a leave replacement before I left in June and we touched base over the summer. In August we actually met to discuss some stuff and reopen the class together(her doing most the work at this point). Then I used sick days until I had the baby. In my district your maternity leave starts the minute you have the baby. If I had her over the summer my 6 weeks would have started in the summer. I am grateful she wasn't early:)

They would most likely hire a leave replacement for the months that you are out.

Re: Teacher moms---what happens if you are due in September?
I was due 9/5 with DD#1. I teach high school, so maybe it's different...I designed loose plans for the 1st quarter for all of the subs (who were teachers in the school already--they gave up a prep to sub). These plans included the books I wanted covered, tests, essays, etc...but no specific time-frame necessarily. DD was born 9/7--the first day of school and I went back the first week of December.

Re: Teacher moms---what happens if you are due in September?
first baby was due Sept. I had him August 31st the day we go back. They never gave me a class because I was on maternity leave. WHen I went back In Feb. I took over a class of a teacher who was retiring.
this time I was due October so again I had no class...I basically covered classes and helped with the K class until I went out on leave on the 19th of September.
When I go back in the spring I will prob just take over another position or just cover preps.

That is nice! I was supposed to be due in Aug. I ended up having them in May. I teach K, they got a perm. sub for the rest of May and June. They got a perm. sub again for my class from Sept. to Feb. when I return.
