Re: Teachers on testing grades...
i am too excited for break!!! also to be honest... i don't really care. Sure I want the kids to do well, but I hate teaching to a test and I don't do it... sure i give them a practice run or two, but that's it.... i hope that it's my teaching and those of my colleagues before me that give them good marks. I also teach severely LD kids, so what they get is what they get. I never feel any pressure from administration to get certain scores.
don't worry about it too much, Kathleen. they'll be fine.... i had a child who could NOT read (severe dslexic and LD...) she MATCHED words from the text and the question and got a 4.... these tests are so NOT a true assessment of their academic functioning.

Re: Teachers on testing grades...
I was freaking out but now I dont really care.
i havent done one practice test yet or even went over type sof questions.
These tests are what they are and when you realize that they are graded by teachers (some who are generous, some who are out to take away as many points as possible) I realize not to give them much thought!
BRING ON BREAK!!!

Re: Teachers on testing grades...
Im trying to get them somewhat prepared..at least letting them know how close it is in case they didnt realize. I have a pretty slow and lazy group this year and I honestly dont know what to expect ftom them.

Re: Teachers on testing grades...
I never freak about the ELA....I'm an 9th grade teacher. I just find that the more the teacher freaks, the more the students freak, and then they don't do their best. I'm preparing them....they don't know it - but everything we've been doing for the last month is hidden ELA prep. So they'll be ready...whether they know it or not. And, even though my school puts a huge emphasis on the scores...I could really care less as long as they do their best.
