Teething and 2.5 months -- I didn't think it would happen so soon!

Please share any tips/suggestions on how to ease the pain for such a little one.

Yesterday he slept a lot--he only woke for his feedings (every 3 hours) and right back to sleep. At the 7:00 p.m. feeding he stayed up until his 10:00 p.m. feeding and then feel asleep.

But then he woke for his 1:00 a.m. feeding (but at 2:30 p.m.) and didn't go back to sleep until 6:30 a.m.! -- I'm exhausted Chat Icon Chat Icon and slept to 9:00 a.m. and was up until 11:15 a.m.

I spoke with my Dr. office and they said he's too little for orajel. Tyneol is OK.

Are you certain he is teething?

I think so, he's crying a lot and putting his hands in his mouth and chewing on the bottle nipples at feedings and his gums there's two white spots, like teeth coming in and his gums are ruff looking.

And I put a teething cloth in his mouth with my finger under it and he's bitting down. I had to massage his lower lip area for him to fall asleep.

well, sounds like it is......i'm not sure if you can use Humphreys 3 or Hylands at that age? but the cold cloths worked good for DS, he teethed early too, but it took a while for him to get his 1st tooth. He started at 3 mos and got his 1st tooth about a month later. Tylenol and Motrin worked good also.

DS started teething at that age also {he had 6 teeth by 6 months old!} i gave him frozen washclothes and used tylenol too; when he was a little older, frozen lenders mini bagels

My daughter cut two teeth at 7 weeks old, so I feel your baby's pain!Chat Icon

I agree w/the frozen washcloth advice...and check w/your pediatrician on whether you can use Tylenol or Oragel for when it gets really bad.

thank you AllChat Icon

I'm going to try the frozen washcloths

Just one more question---he's sleeping schedule is messed up how do I fix it? Or can't I?

I know he's still an infant, but the other week he was an OK schedule, he would wake from 12:00am for a 5:00am bottle and then go to sleep until 9:00am.

Now its an 2:00am bottle and can't go back to sleep until 6:00am and then sleep until 10/11:00am and like only wakes for feedings and goes back to sleep--is this something I could change? I keep reading that you can't put an infant on a schedule--you just have to go with the flow, is that right?
