It could def. be teething - don't stress! Even if it's a cold - you don't need to bring her to the ped. We always just wait out the colds and it's gone in a few days.

I'm sure it's her teeth though!

G had a nose that ran like a faucet when he was teething. It then led to post nasal drip, which led to a cough. All from teething. It could definitely be. Just keep her hydrated & monitor her temp & her behaviour. If she becomes a little feverish (or a lot feverish, of course) or is acting not herself, call the Ped and see what they say.Chat Icon

oh, and a great home remedy for stuffy/runny noses. I put apple cider vinegar in a coffe cup and warm it. i then drop in slices of fresh ginger. It works like a charm.

Def use a humidifier as well.

My baby had a cold at 6 weeks old. I called the ped and they said that it was not necessary to see her (unless I wanted to). She said to give him saline drops and tylenol. She said to not give him tylenol around the clock because I would not be able to tell if a fever developed. She said to call her back if a fever developed or if he started vomiting.

Re: teething = cold symptoms???? PLEASE HELP!!!

my son has cold like syptoms- clear runny nose, irritable, coughing- and he is getting more teeth. its hard to tell the 2 apart(sick or teeth) but i treat them the same, AYR spray, tylenol, benadryl at night if needed, vicks.

Re: teething = cold symptoms???? PLEASE HELP!!!

Kiera had the cold symptom thing with each tooth that she got. You don't have to bring them to the doctor for a cold unless she has a high fever with it. I would suggest the humidifier and just let her rest. You can also just call the pedi and ask them what else they recommend for a 4 month old. I would stay away from medicine unless she is running a very high fever.

even if she does have a cold, no need to bring her to the ped....

use the humidifier, baby vicks, aspirator, etc

she will be fine. Kids get colds all the time

Re: teething = cold symptoms???? PLEASE HELP!!!

The only reason why I asked about the cold is b/c I had the most insane cold/cough which lasted for about 2-3 weeks.... It was painful, I was suffering and I was able to take cough medicine! I'm not a nut that is going to run to the ped with her every cold she gets.... But I have been dreading her catching what I had b/c it hurt so badly.....

This poor kid....

I got her down at 830 last night.... she was up at 9 screaming.

We watched George Lopez on Nick @ Night, and I gave her some Tylenol and her teething tablets and started putting her down at 11. By 1104 she was out. My BFF came by at around 1115 with more teething tablets since I ran out, and we BS'd outside for about 30 minutes..... only to hear Kristina grunting/fussing/crying a little bit in the monitor at 1145/1150. I came inside and held her and w/i 30 seconds she was out cold again.

I use the vicks vaporplug at night and it helps DS skeeo when he has a runny nose.

If this doesn't clear up soon.... I'll be buying one myself! I really do think it's the teething as well...

Like I said previously - if she was going to catch the cold from me.... It wouldn't have been at the end of my cold where I'm dealing with remnants of it. And last night when I used the aspirator on her... it looked like it was just a tremendous amount of saliva that I pulled out....

Did you take her temperature? I would take that just to make sure it isn't something else.

Re: teething = cold symptoms???? PLEASE HELP!!!

I'm going thru the same thing. I also thought it was a cold, and last night he started coughing. Then I saw what a PP said about the cough being related to teething. I think there's truth to that. He also is putting out so much saliva that we can pretty much fill up a kiddie pool with the stuff (yuck!)

I think that we have two cranky teething 4 month old babies on our hands!!

it couldd very well be related to teething... but even if it is a cold, there's no need to bring her to the pediatrician - there is nothing they will do for her more than what you could do at home.

she will be ok Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
