teething question..

Is 3 months too early to start teething?
Yesterday DD was grumpy all day - just cried and slept (slept way more than usual). Could that be teething? I don't think she had a fever...

Re: teething question..

I've heard they can start teething very early on. Did she seem to be in pain?

My niece started at 4 months and got her first tooth at a year old. I hope DD doesn't take as long

The peds also told me that gum swelling is a sign. My dd bottom gum is swollen, but i dont see a white bud, but i can defiantly feel a bump.. so hoping soon.

eta: also my peds said i could give her tylenol 0.8ml, but check with your peds first, if you think shes in pain.

Re: teething question..

Gail, I asked about this last week because my DS seems to be teething also, and found out it is not too early!

He has a couple little bumps rising out of his gums (not above the gums yet), one is white. Both are on the bottom. He was REALLY cranky last Thursday, crying most of the day, and again this weekend, plus he is drooling and sucking on his hand like crazy. The only thing that would soothe him was sucking on an ice cold washcloth or his hand. His doctor suggested trying this first, and if it didn't work, use some baby orajel. If that didn't work, use baby tylenol. We used the orajel Sunday night, and it seemed to help him.

Good luck! I know how miserable this makes them (and us)!

DD started at 3 months - she had her first tooth by 4 months...she never got a fever, but she was (and still is) drooling all the time - a few cranky days here and there - not constant though

My DS who is almost 4 months old is going through this now and we also think he might be teething based on what I am reading on these boards.

We tried the Hyland's tablets last night - it provided a little bit of relief. DS was very fidgety throughout the night.
