teething question- teeth coming in in front - not up?

teething question- teeth coming in in front - not up?
DS is 7.5 months and seems to have been teething forever, but we never felt a tooth coming in. Now I noticed 4 bottom teeth that seem to be in front of the gums, like they want emerge forward instead of up. DD is now 3.5 and didn't have any issues like this, but I seem to remember about other people's DC having this on this board back then - am I crazy, or is this normal? Anyone experience this? TIA

I saw them toward the front of the gums before they started to pop up.

i feel like my daughter had this where I could see the tooth more through the "front" of the gum than the top part. Though everything came out just fine once her teeth broke through
