Teething...sleeping

So Declan already has his two bottom middle teeth and is getting FOUR, yes thats right-I said 4 teeth on top at once. the two on the right are showing, 1 on the left and the other is just a swollen red lump with a bit of white showing. He would not go to sleep last night so we finally put him in the swing and played his lullaby DVD and he got really tired around 9 and DH moved him to his crib where he fell asleep. He then woke up around 11 and I rocked him back to sleep. He woke up at 2AM-I fed him and he went back to sleep in about 20 minutes. Am I creating a monster here?? Any suggestions?

Have you tried teething tablets? My DS was a really bad teether----I gave him Tylenol about an hour before bed when it was really bad, it definitely helped. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

aww, I do not think you are creating a monster but I am a softee...when miki was young, I would have definitely rocked her if she was teething.....

Maybe some ice in one of those mesh feeders?

Motrin always helped miki too....

Re: Teething...sleeping

Charlotte cut 8 teeth in 8 weeks...and just cut 3 molars (her 4th is "just about to" cut). I did whatever it took to get her to sleep with the first 8...and I'll be honest, it created a monster. Albeit an adorably cute monster Chat Icon

She sleeps through the night now (just recently) and doesn't seem affected by her molars at night as much as her first 8. Surprisingly.

I think you just do what you feel is right. For me, I needed to comfort her as much as she needed the comforting.

Re: Teething...sleeping

Just to clarify-I don't think rocking is creating a monster more the falling asleep in the swingChat Icon I'd rock him all night if he needed me to which can get hairy with twins! Luckily Ronan has been pretty much an angel at night. Well we moved him into his crib about 8:30 and he is sleeping now-9:10.

Nah, I think anything that gives them comfort while they are going through this is fine-it's only temporary, and a few days in a row isn't the end of the world.

I agree with Stephanie on the Motrin. Works better for us than Tylenol and I bring it our for teething.

As with anything, you do what you gotta do and what works for your kids. As far as suggestions go, I wish I had some for you, but since Abby hasn't shown teeth yet, I have no experience.
