Re: tell me about st lucia and st maarten
DH and I went to St. Lucia for our honeymoon and had a great time! We stayed at the Sandals Grande St. Lucian...it was amazing. The resort was beautiful, the food and drinks were good. We really did enjoy it.
I thought St. Lucia was beautiful..a very lush, tropical island. The locals were super friendly. We went whale/dolphin watching while we were there. There is also their famous landmark, which are The Pitons (2 mountains) which is a beautiful sight. They also have a volcano which you can 'drive through'. We also saw that while we were there...it was incredible (a little smelly though because of the sulfur ). Although we didn't spend a ton of time off the resort, when we did I never once felt unsafe. There is obviously a lot of poverty there as there is in many of the Carribbean islands, but we never heard anything or experienced anything that made us feel unsafe or uncomfortable.
Good luck!

I second that!
Except we stayed in the Sandals Regency La Toc for our wedding/honeymoon and had an incredible time. Amazing island and the people were so incredibly friendly.

Re: tell me about st lucia and st maarten
I love St. Maarten. When I went there I stayed on the dutch side (french side is much more $$$$). We rented a car for only $100 a week and drove around the entire island. It is very tiny! MY DH has been there 8 times. Their town is so cute and has great prices on jewelry, David Yurman and liquor. You can also take a ferry to either Anguilla or St. Barths they are only 45 mins away. We went to St. Barths and it is such a beautiful restaurant. I would not do an all inclusive there though b/c there are so many great places to eat at!
GOOD LUCK!

DH and I stayed at the Grande as well for our honeymoon in October 06 and I have to say I agree with EVERYTHING. We did the whale watch...the grand pitons tour and the volcano trip...yes it was a bit stinky. But the gardens were gorgeous.
We LOVED it.

Re: tell me about st lucia and st maarten
Danielle and I stayed at Sandals Grande St Lucian in 08/04 and we had an amazing time. I would recommend that resort 100%
The great thing about sandals is their hurricane policy. You could be on the day you are leaving, and there is a hurricane, Sandals will give you a stay at the resort for the same time you were booked during the storm. I dont believe it includes air though, but still no other resort offers that.
We didnt do any excursions because we saw how poor the area was on the ride to the resort, but we really just wanted to relax anyway, and that we did.
We upgraded to a concierge suite, and we loved our room. The bed was so comfortable. The food and the service were excellent. There is a place called Josephines that made the best chocolate crepes. yummy.
The beach was so so, but the pools were excellent
At night there is no entertainment, no shows.

Re: tell me about st lucia and st maarten
I've never been to St. Lucia but I've been to St. Maarten twice and loved it both times. One time we stayed at the Maho Beach Resort on the Dutch side and the other was I think at a Westin on the french side. The dutch side had more nightlife while the french side was quieter but the island is great. The beaches are so nice and there are good restaurants. And like someone said, you can do a day trip to St. Barts and Anguilla which we did and had an awesome time!
