Re: Tell me about the first time your DC had solids
I was going to make a tenny tiny bit..... Since Alexa wasn't a big eater I figured she wasn't going to be a HUGE fan of solids.
HOLY CRAP was I WRONG..... I made like 2 tablespoons of oatmeal and BM and I thought "what a waste, I defintely made too much". Well she DEVOURED the whole bowl and WIGGED when there wasn't more so I made more. I stopped after 6 table spoons. I was scared she would pop her belly got so big
Now she eats solids like a champ! See my post above about my piggy!
Since she is nursing so frequently Randi the solids might really help to space her some..... they say its just practice but Alexa definitely takes more calories then if she was just strictly nursing and even though they say its not suppose to help them sleep better I our case it was either a total coincidence or it actually DID help her sleep better. I originally wanted to wait until 6 mos to start solids but her reflux started acting up again and she was already on 2 meds and the option for the third med had some scary potentially permanent side effects so we opted to start solids and I'm happy with the decision.
but my kid is like TOTALLY NOT THE NORM... so don't go by me

Re: Tell me about the first time your DC had solids
Ugh, I'm still struggling with this! My DD is 6.5 months and she does not like ANY solids. I've been trying to give her solids since she was 5.5 months (I stopped for one week b/c she was having loose stools but it probably had nothing to do with the solids) and she HATES it! I think it's more that she's not used to the consistency of it, not necessarily the taste. She swats at the spoon, seals her lips shut, cries and gags. I keep trying but no such luck!

Re: Tell me about the first time your DC had solids
the first time my DS didn't know what to make of it. The 2nd time, he LOVED it. Now, he loves food so much he smiles and gets excited every single time I put him in a highchair.

at first DD didn't get the "spoon" thing...but 1 week to the day...she totally got it and now gobbles down all her cereal and we started sweet potatoes 2 days ago and she loves that too!! She does seem to be a little more gassy, but I am sure that's just b/c of this new introduction. Have fun!!

Re: Tell me about the first time your DC had solids
DD totally didn't get it in the beginning. She maybe ate 2 teasponns... She would spit it out of her mouth and made a disgusted face. We 1st tried at 4 1/2 months.
Chloe is now 5 1/2 months and loves food. It took a few weeks and she is getting better and better every day. For the past week or so she has been finishing the bowl and opens her mouth for each bite.
It definitely took a while for it to click for her. She seems to like oatmeal mixed with fruit in the morning (apples, banana, pear - her favorite) and multi-grain cereal mixed with a veggie at night (sweet potato, green beans, butternut squash)
