Terrible Cramp in rib while running!
I have been getting HORRIBLE cramps when running recently. They start right away and greatly impact my run. I thought I was drinking enough water but I guess not? ANy advice?

I would think that there could be two causes: 1. Something you ate is messing you up. Have you changed your food intake recently. 2.Erratic breathing - try to make your breathing as consistent as possible.

I agree with the breathing being the culprit. I had terrible pains (almost like a gas bubble) under my ribs after a mile or so into my runs..Once I had my breathing under control and paced it....no more pains...
Good Luck.

I've had that happen and it's almost always because I'm not breathing correctly. When it happens, I slow down and take a few deep breaths and then start again. Are you breathing through your mouth and nose at the same time? Sounds weird but that is what I wasn't doing and when I did, it helped.

Re: Terrible Cramp in rib while running!
for me i actually can't drink water right before a run bc then i get terrible cramps. i make sure I'm hydrated but don't drink water within a half hour of my run.
also breathing is huge. make sure you are breathing OUT enough. i think we can all handle breathing in naturally, but i really try to concentrate on pushing the air out on the exhale.
