Text messaging from Turks?
Im going to Turks and Caicos for a few days. Does anyone know if I could still send text messages to people at home?

My SIL was just there in Feb. and again in May. She wasn't able to use AT&T. I have Verizon and it worked. She said that AT&T service would be available there soon though.
ooops! I just realized that i reversed what i ment to say. AT&T worked there and Verizon didn't! Sorry about that!

Thats what I did. It cost more than regular texting, but I was able to do it.

I had my berry and AT&T and it worked fine. I had no problems with coverage.
You have to have your service set up for international. If it's not, it won't work.

I can speak from my experience with Verizon when I was on vacation in Jamaica. It was .25 each text outgoing and incoming. I could not send picture/video texts or anything that was formatted with color or graphics. I was on vacation with friends so I texted my DH a lot. Our bill wound up being $15 higher that month. No biggie and it was worth the piece of mind. HTH!

I think if you call your network they can change the roaming for you. I am going to PR on business in a few weeks, and I called and ask how that would work..that's what they told me.
