texting at wedding reception...have you ever done it??
i am curious .... i saw the topic on Yahoo the other day... (cant find it anymore)
and wondered if anyone has ever done this... OR at any other special occasions..
and most of all thoughts and opinions!!

Oh definitely! I attended a Sunday wedding and it was during football season, so I was constantly texting people to get score updates.

I don't think I have texted at a wedding reception, but I wouldn't have a problem doing it.
Now if your question asked about texting during a wedding ceremony... I would have a completely different answer!

I HATE people who have their stupid Blackberry or IPhone or whatever out and are texting away at a social function ...........SO SO SO SO freakin' rude !!
Unless you're preventing nuclear war, WHAT is SO important ?? 
And if you MUST make a phone call (check on your kids, call a cab - whatever) Leave the room and go out into the hallway ........

No. I would never think of doing that.
I have seen someone doing it VERY activelly at a friend's wedding. I was surprised people could not let go of their professional life or other friends for a few hours.

Honestly, I think texting is better then someone yapping on a phone.
I will say that at a Wedding, I would not appreciate someone doing it during the ceremony unless they had to, but during the reception I don't think I would care, I mean who would pay attention to something like that anyway?
I think we are all guilty of this at one time or another.

yea i agree on this...
i can see if you have kids and you had to leave them with a babysitter.. and maybe checking on the phone to see the sitter has called.

yea i had this done at my own wedding 
it wasnt just a one time thing...
but one of our usher's was doing this the WHOLE time! and even during the pictures!! we have proof!!!!!!! its in one of them!!!

I'd do it at a wedding reception as long as the toasts are not going on at the time.
The phone goes off at the ceremony so no texting there.
DH put an app called Sportacular on my iPhone and he was checking it for sports scores at a Sunday wedding reception we attended recently. The bride's father told him about it the night before so he couldn't get mad at DH for checking it.

NO...I dont even have texting on my phone..NOT my style, and dont need it. If I need to talk to someone I will call them, but NOT at a wedding. I think it is rude.

I get annoyed also. I have a friend that always has her phone in her hand and she'll answer it even when we're sitting hanging out just having some coffee or dinner or in the car or whatever. And i just wait akwardly until she's off.
There's also a woman in my yoga class that always leaves her phone on 'loud' ring and gets up all the time to answer... its SO distracting
Leave work at work and enjoy your time off celebrating whatever function you are at.

I think I have. But only during times when there are no toasts and people are just dancing or socializing in between courses. But I'm a txting wh0re...I easily send & receive 100+ msgs a day.

ITA. And if DS was not with me I might be inclined to text whomever was sitting....
I always leave it on vibrate and I always have DH carry it in his jacket pocket. If I were to text once it would be the max I think.
