texture issues w. solids

DS is 9 1/2 mo. almost and has been on solids since about 5mo. he loves all the stage 2's fruits and veggies, eats a cheerio here and there and likes yogurt and smoothies.

Last week i gave him a tiny bit of mashed potatoes and he made an awful face, choked and threw up his formula (that he had like 2 hours before...).

today i tried a stage 3 mac and cheese from beech nut..same thing. (granted that mac and cheese stuff made me want to vomit just looking at it.)

I take this that he's not ready for that kind of stuff yet, but wondering if i will have texture / gag reflux issues later on with him.

any advice, experience with this?

Went through this kind of with my Dd. she just wasn't ready to move on til late. She had a wicked gag reflux. Looks like DS may be the same. He's 9 mos and he's yet to put a puff in his mouth even though I've offered. And I'm not doing anything more until I know he can.

thanks. we were on alimentum early on with all the reflux sensitivity issues so i've been babying him when it comes to food. I figured he would probably be difficult..LOL.

Guess he's just not ready, which is fine. b/c really that mac n cheese crap in the jar...i almost threw up just whiffing it...i have no idea how kids eat this stuff.
