Re: Thanksgiving Plans?
We go to my parents' house every year for Thanksgiving. I make a lot of side dishes at our house and then bring them over.
Years ago FIL started coming over for what they called "Thanksgiving donuts" - he would bring donuts and they'd eat a little breakfast but they didnt do it last year so I guess that's not happening this year. My in laws are weird so I'm happy not to have to spend the holiday with them!

Re: Thanksgiving Plans?
My family either watches the Parade in person or on TV. When Santa arrives at the end we call eachother and start the HAPPY THANKSGIVING wishes.
We make a lot of traditional sides, but then stuffed artichokes and turniups too!
I believe we are going to DH's family this year.

Re: Thanksgiving Plans?
I feel a little bad, but we don't really do holidays with dh's family. I love them, but I moved to LI to be with DH and they are here. All of my family is in one neighborhood in MD. I feel that since we live in NY all the time, we should spend holidays in MD. I'm a teacher so I get longer breaks. This Thanksgiving for example, I am flying down Monday (I teach in private school we get the whole week), and then DH is driving down Wed night. This works for us b/c I get to see some of my girlfriends as well w/o him.

Re: Thanksgiving Plans?
We're hosting it this year (again). There will be 10 people - my parents, sister, aunt & uncle from Florida, cousins from Virginia Beach and MIL. We don't have much traditions with it other than watching the parade and nibbling on appetizers before the bird is ready. It's my favorite holiday!

Re: Thanksgiving Plans?
FIRST we were going to my parents' for dinner and SIL's for dessert. Then SIL didn't want to do dinner at her house for her family and FIL so DH tried to get them invited to my parents'. Except my parents were planning to go to my aunt's for dessert after DH and I left. So then I said I would cook so we could all celebrate together.
So now I'm cooking for my first Thanksgiving at 5 months pregnant. Everyone else is bringing a side or dessert but I'm doing the turkey, stuffing, and dessert. And I am not a good cook. The George Foreman grill is my best friend. I really think that I just wanted to use my new dishes and set my table like they do in the Williams Sonoma window. I hadn't really thought through the cooking part.

Re: Thanksgiving Plans?
We always split the holidays 50/50...I would cook for my Mom... eat with her and my ex-brother... then drive out to DHs grandma/grandpas to visit all his fam. This year grandma/grandpa isn't doing too well, so we'll just going to his parents. Smaller then usual...but I don't have to cook. My mom is going to her boyfriends LOL
