Thanksgiving side dish ideas?
I'm totally set on salad, soup, and potato and yam side dishes, but haven't decided on vegetable sides. We try to avoid any ethnic dishes at Thanksgiving and stick to more traditional, American fare.
What are some of your favorite Thanksgiving side dishes?

Re: Thanksgiving side dish ideas?
For Vegetables, I usually do corn with butter, string beans sauteed with olive oil, garlic and sliced almonds and surround it with french's fried onions, and spinach pie with feta (not really veggie but close enough lol) My sil, this year is making roasted vegetables.

roasted brussel sprouts sauteed green beans
and i know this is weird, but a raw fennel-cucumber salad is really nice with t-giving... it's light, is a different temperature and texture than a lot of t-giving food, and it refreshes your palate.

Re: Thanksgiving side dish ideas?
For veggies, I always make a carrot soufflé (family recipe - not healthy but SO good), Paula Dean's corn casserole, and some kind of green veggie (creamed spinach... I've done Ina Garten's spinach gratin or some type of green bean dish, for example).

Re: Thanksgiving side dish ideas?
Our sides are usually mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes with marshmallow topping, stuffing, corn, and asparagus.
ETA: Cranberry sauce
We also do anti-pasta before dinner: raw veggies (peppers, broccoli, celery, carrots) with dip, stuffed mushrooms, bruschetta, chips and dip.
