The ACID is back...please help! -Updated with question.

Ok so now this feeling is starting to scare me because its not like anything I've ever had before - its not heartburn like in my chest that feels better with certain things - Its like an intense burning in my throat area that literally feels like I drank acid - the burning does not get any better when i eat or drink. Has anyone ever had this?

Try Pepcid AC Maximum Strength, it's a white tablet and okay'd by my doc. It works wonders. Feel better!

I swear by Tums Smoothies. My doc said N-O to Pepcid!! I'm jealous as I used to take Pepcid for my heartburn!

I have found that certain foods do bring it on more than others...at least at this point...For me ICE-TEA (mix) and LEMONADE (mix) are big culprits.

I read that the reason it happens is because all of your muscles and moving and stretching, including the flap that covers the tube that goes to the stomache - is that the esophogus? - so since there isn't a tight fit, the acid can come up
I have heard dairy works for some peopl - not for me though. I have been trying applesauce and that is OK.

Indigestion...and it sucks. I live on TUMS. Stay away from acidic foods...I still haven't learned my lesson with that.

I honestly threw up acid some nights while pregnant. Like projectile vomiting of it. I would always take two tums and a small bottle of water (like Poland Spring). It would always work for me. Scary though!

same here..certain food did bring it on for me.
Tums did NOTHING.
I found drinking milk, ovaltine or ICE CREAM helped, plus Mylanta

I found that I have this as well. Ask your doctor if there is something stronger than tums he lets you take. I have been taking tums as I am nervous of the other stuff but certain foods make it worse. I also find eating small meals more often and not letting my stomach get too empty helps too. Avoid spicy, greasy, and acidic foods are supposed to help.

I'm shocked that your doc said no to Pepcid. It's a Class B drug that should be fine. Chat Icon

Its funny that you should say this because the last two days - Ice Cream has been the only thing that has worked - in fact, I had ice cream for lunch yesterday Chat Icon

Thanks ladies for all the advice...I'm going to try some of these things! I'm so hoping it goes away as suddenly as it came on because it is really affecting my days...ahhhh...the joys of pregnancy Chat Icon

Re: The ACID is back...please help! -Updated with question.

I had terrible heartburn during the early to middle part my pregnancy. I chewed tums constantly, but it did nothing. The only time I didn't feel the burning was when I was swallowing something. Then it would come right back. My doctor prescribed Protonix and it was AMAZING. After weeks of having constant heartburn every single day and night, I took one pill and it got rid of it within a couple hours and the heartburn didn't return for about 2 weeks. The instructions were to take one pill daily, but I only took it a handful of times when I needed it.

LAst night I was in so much pain I would have done anything,

So I scoured the web for ideas.

I tried pretzels...they didnt work..
Tums did nothing...Lemon water..nothing

I finally tried 1teaspoon of baking soda in very warm water ( 8oz).,..It was gone in about 20 minutes!

also camoille tea with honey helped.

Re: The ACID is back...please help! -Updated with question.

Ladies thanks so much for all the advice...it is comforting to know that I am not alone in this. Well as of Saturday - its gone away again completely! SO SO SO WEIRD! I still have no idea what brings it on or why it goes away and when it comes it is absolutely horrible...not moderate pain but debilitating burning...so strange! But thanks again Chat Icon

I take GAVISCON and eat yogurt...both seem to help. The GAVISCON tastes awful, but it really helps.
