The Carltun or Melting Pot
My DH and I are celebrating our 8th anniversary this Saturday night. I already made reservations at the Carltun but I thought maybe the Melting Pot could be fun.
We've been to the Carltun a few times, mostly for brunch. Never been to the Melting Pot.
Keep in mind, my DH is a vegetarian. From a review I read about the Melting Pot, they said the veggie broth/entree was greasy and flavorless.
Thoughts? TIA!!!

I know not everyone likes the Melting Pot but DH and I both love it. You could just do cheese, salad, and chocolate and skip the entree altogether. I love the main course but I always consider skipping it bc it's so much food!

Re: The Carltun or Melting Pot
I've gone to Melting Pot for both dinner and dessert. I wont go back for dinner...DH and I felt like it was a little overpriced and not that great. I would go back for dessert though!

I personally don't care for the Melting Pot so I would go with the Carltun.

The Carltun or Melting Pot
I think we've settled on the Carltun since we want to have a traditional dinner. Maybe well try the melting pot another time and go for cheese and dessert. Thanks for the advice!

I have to disagree. DH and I went for our anniversary a couple of years ago and we had a nice private booth for 2. Very intimate. If you go on a night when there is a special event or primetime on a weekend it can get noisy though.

I agree. I have not been able to convince DH to go not only because of the cost, but because you basically give up hours to go there.
We were going to actually go a few weeks ago, but decided to go to our old sushi place in Long Beach and we had a much better time, for 1/2 the price and did much more with the rest of our night after we had our dinner.
We walked around and went and had dessert and coffee some place else.
I think Melting Pot is fun for a ladies night get together with your friends you haven't seen in awhile.

Re: The Carltun or Melting Pot
We like Melting Pot, and on a weeknight, it is nice a quiet and the small booths are pretty cozy. I like long dinners, and I think the fondue format leaves lots of time for conversation. I think it can be romantic under the right circumstances. We always go on my birthday, since I love it there. :)
