My car has bluetooth, and there is a microphone above me. I dont use the earpiece, I use the car. I never drive holding the phone. I almost got myself killed once talking on the phone. Never again.

Re: The cell phone and driving...
Im guilty! I use the speaker phone. I usually call home (automated voice feature thing) to check messages. I dont call friends or family just to "Chit Chat"..That can wait till I get home. I was cut off by a guy today, on his phone just chatting away.

Re: The cell phone and driving...
My mom was in a horrible accident five years ago b/c a driver was on a cell phone. He slammed into the back of her car, pushed her right into the intersection on Queens Blvd, where she was then hit by two other cars (on each side of her.) She was in the hospital for six weeks, and went for rehabilitation for three years.
We do not USE the phone in the car, and if it's a dyer need, we utilize speakerphone or a headset.

I actually ask others who are driving if they have their ear pieces in. If they don't - I end the call.
I use my earpiece

Re: The cell phone and driving...
It's my biggest pet peeve to see people using their cell phones while driving - holding them that is! Get a freakin ear piece for a few bucks and follow the law!!
I rarely use my cell when driving. I never make calls, and if I get one, I will use the speakerphone or earpiece if I have it handy. Or else the call just waits.
I also use my OnStar phone too. That's all handfree as well.

i always always use the ear piece. speakerphone doesn't qualify, as the point is "hands free"
just FYI be careful with that one

Re: The cell phone and driving...
After being pulled over for talking on the phone while driving, I now use an earpiece all of the time.
ETA: Be careful with speaker phones, you can still get a ticket if you are holding the phone in your hand.

Re: The cell phone and driving...
I don't use my phone when I'm driving. I had a hands-free thing and it was junk, and I really only use my phone to call DH.
I feel like I see so many people holding their phones while driving.

She is not kidding. She hung up on me a few times.
With my new phone I can put it on speakerphone and lay it on the center console. That is sooo cool that the newer cars have blue tooth built in.

Re: The cell phone and driving...
I do NOT use the phone at all. I know how distracted I can get and I never want to put other drivers or myself in danger. If it's important, I'll actually pull over to talk.

I have a blue tooth, but hardly ever use it, so I guess I break the law. I never talk on my phone a lot when I drive anyway.

I don't really talk much on the phone while driving. When I do talk, I use a hands free or my speakerphone.
