The Container Store: Shipping/Customer Service Rant
My husband and I live in a rent stabilized apartment in Park Slope. Obviously, we want to stay here as long as possible, so we are doing a lot of reorganization.
I have been using The Container Store online a lot, because it would be basically impossible for me to bring my 1 year old on the subway to the Container Store, buy all of that bulky stuff, get back on the subway...you get it...
Their shipping fees are HUGE! HUGE! Last night my order came out to about 60 bucks or so (approximation) and the S&H was 22 bucks!! That's 1/3 of the total order.
I called their customer service line today and I told them my situation. I'm a regular customer, re-organizing my apt. etc. Is there any way they can give me a break on the shipping or a discount code to make up for that shipping.
The customer service rep. said flat out. "no."
I was like "What? No? You don't have any current promotions?" He said "No." I said "There is nothing you can do for me?" he said "No." I said, "OK, well, I'll be shopping for my organizational needs elsewhere." he said "OK, that's fine. Thank you for calling The Container Store."

sadly customer service oftens depends on the rep you happen to get n the phone...some sort of effort should have been made to accomodate you IMO
