The couple in Muttontown...what do you think?
That held the Inodnesian women as slaves. Their lawyer is fighting to put them under house arrest after posting bail, as opposed to denying them bail.
What do you think?
Personally I feel that just because they have the $$ they should not be able to get away with this. They kept 2 HUMAN BEINGS in a closet!!! JAIL is TOO good for them IMO...

IMO, they should rot in jail for such inhumane treatment.
I really do not give a damn how much they have.

Re: The couple in Muttontown...what do you think?
This is just freaking Paris Hilton getting out for house arrest.
Is it really a punishment to be able to be in your own home with your TV and your own food and bed, etc?

I think jailing 2 humans requires that they spend time in jail as well.
However since they haven't been convicted, I supposed they're entitled to bail like everyone else unless they're a flight risk.

See I think they ARE a flight risk. They have the means and connections to get away. And in addition - they can AFFORD all the security measures being requested of them, whereas an average joe couldn't.
Um why not have spent that $ treating 2 human beings as...HUMAN BEINGS??

Re: The couple in Muttontown...what do you think?
they should be in jail. I doubt being under house arrest is much of a punishment, I am sure their house is very extravagant. And they would have the means to get out of town. keep those scumbags in jail.

That's why the bail system takes into account the amount of money they have to put up to get out.
Also as for the flight risk, from what I read extensive (and wasteful) measure are being taken to ensure they don't flee the country.
I completely agree that it's a waste of money & that they should stay in jail once they are convicted. But they haven't been convicted yet.

I agree with punishment for the crime, but we have a constitution - so we can't punish them until they are found guilty. Granting or denial of bail is based on many different factors...
If we were talking house arrest vs. prison after they are convicted, that would be one thing... but I wouldn't get very heated over them being out on bail.

Re: The couple in Muttontown...what do you think?
I think house arrest is laughable for them. First of all, they are a very wealthy couple and I'm sure there house is luxurious and has every amenity - that's what punishment is supposed to be? I also agree with other posters in saying that they are a complete flight risk - they have the money and the connections to skip town.

(Just playing devil's advocate here) - You surrender your passports when you are out on bail. Also, if they are under house arrest, they'll be monitored which makes getting away more difficult.
Either way, this hasn't been decided yet - It's something his lawyer is fighting for. That doesn't mean it will happen. That just means his lawyer is doing his job. I wouldn't worry until a decision has been made.

I understand what you're saying - for all we know they already have fake passports, etc. I think they should be locked up in jail based alone on what they are being accused of.

Re: The couple in Muttontown...what do you think?
I just find it totally ironic how HARD they are trying and how much $$$$ they are willing to spend to NOT be locked up.
Apparently they didn't find any problems with locking up their "maids" but confinement should not apply to them....

Re: The couple in Muttontown...what do you think?
Well isn't that always the case with any criminal. People who do wrong to others - wether it be driving drunk or jailing people are the first to scream when something is done to them.
This particular couple have apparently come to the conclusion that they are above and beyond the laws of this country and are going to do whatever they can to fight it.
