The debates
Anyone watch? Do you have any favorites as of now? I really like Harris. I also like Biden, but I think he is a bit too old and his policies aren’t the best.

The debates
Biden is too handsy for my tastes. I get that Trump supporters don't mind that Trump does it but I do. Biden has been told plenty of times to knock it off and he still does it - so that's a no go for me.

The debates
I can't get behind Biden, and I know a lot of other people who feel the same. He seemed weak at the debate. He's got an antiquated way of addressing women. He was the safe white male choice to stand next to Obama, but I don't think at this point we need a safe white male as a candidate. I know he makes the other white males feel warm and fuzzy, but I think it's time to be bold. A lot of Trumps support came from people who didn't want the same old politics with the same old politicians, so I think the democrats need to put together someone exciting, someone different, someone progressive who stands up and says what the majority of Americans believe - women have a right to choose what happens to their bodies, healthcare should be a human right, etc. I know realistically the progressive idea may not get far with our current legislature, but we have a better chance with someone who actually believes in them. Biden is saying these things now after being pressured to, but I don't for a second believe that he means it.
Harris and Warren definitely stood out to me at the debates, and before the debates, I wasn't that sure about them. They both definitely came across strong on the debate stage.

Re: The debates
That’s a good point that he is handsy.
I really hate saying this, but I think if a woman is a candidate, then she will not win. I wish I could be more hopeful, but after what I’ve seen the past few years, I’m not sure a woman could win.

I definitely worry about this too. I think sexism in this country is strong, though before Obama I would have said the same thing about racism in this country.
I think a woman could have a chance. While Hilary was a qualified candidate, she came with a lot of extra baggage from the Clinton years. I think sexism played a roll in her not being elected, but I think being a Clinton may have played a bigger role. So I'm hopeful maybe a different female candidate could have a chance, and I hate to not try.
I've also been very impressed with Castro and I thought he did well in the debate, so he's a possibility too. But again, what's stronger in the US - sexism or racism?

Closet sexism of the baby boomer generation.

The debates
A few years ago, I took a course at Hofstra about women in politics. St the end of the semester, we concluded that America wasn't yet ready for a woman President. No one had yet emerged as a policy maker that could be influential enough. Now, as for tonight's debate, I loved Pete Budigiej. warren and Sanders are wayyy too left of center to win imo, but there were good points by the pundits that a midfielder isn't going to cut it against #45

Re: The debates
My top 3 are Mayor Pete, Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders. I'd be happy with either 3 for President.
Besides them, I like certain talking points of Andrew Yang, Jay Inslee and Kristin Gillibrand.
I really don't like many of the others.... I wish it was narrowed down to 10 or less. 20 is just getting annoying...

Any of these candidates would be a billion times better than what we currently have.

The debates
Cory Booker (IMO) won last night's debate. He was well prepared. So far, I am annoyed by Kamala Harris, Mayor Diblasio is ridiculous and Bernie/Warren are way too liberal for the Dem ticket. I love Mayor Pete. I think he's perfect. Too bad there are way too many homophobic people in America to elect him. I hope he goes far in terms of policy-making because in the future he'd be an amazing President.
