Re: The difference between a cold and a sinus infection?
Colds:
Colds will often begin with a clear nasal discharge, but after several days it usually turns creamy, yellow, or green for a time. Sneezes tend to be more productive, and coughs sound wetter than with allergies. If the eyes are involved, one or both of them usually turn pink, with a discharge that matches that in the nose. A fever may be present. Sinus Infections:
A sinus infection in a child often begins like a cold but lasts for greater than 10 to 14 days with no period of improvement. Sometimes a sinus infection begins with a high fever (>103 F), facial swelling, or facial pain.

Re: The difference between a cold and a sinus infection?
I have been suffering from a sinus infection for three weeks - thought it was a cold initially, but was wrong. I let it "go" for too long and am now paying the consequences. If you're not sure, see a doctor so he/she can put you on meds IF you have a sinus infection.
Feel better!

Re: The difference between a cold and a sinus infection?
I usually know I have a sinus infection when I have tremendous pressure in my cheeks and when I blow out green discharge from my nose.

This was me too. I wish I went to the doctor sooner to get the antibiotics. They have saved me.
When my cold turned into a sinus infection my mucous went from clear to yellow (sorry TMI) and my head felt like it was going to explode from the pressure.
Feel better soon!

Re: The difference between a cold and a sinus infection?
I went to the dentist several weeks ago with a bad toothache- she diagnosed a sinus infection based on an x-ray and the fact that she saw nothing wrong with the tooth. I have also had ones with bad pain in my cheeks.

I get sinus infections all the time. Sometimes its more subtle but it always entails some sort of pressure...or nagging headache that wont go away.
