The difference between adjusting to 2 compared to adjusting to 3 children
I have a question for you BTDT moms of 3 or more.....I have 2 that are VERY close(11 months apart) they are 1 & 2 now.
This may sound crazy to some but I toss the idea of going for the 3rd around (in my head-not to my DH...he would go for it tomorrow!)
My thing is I am 33, do you think if I did go for it-soon...would I lose my mind completely? Its DIFFICULT now with my 2 babies....
but sometimes I think, aww what the heck-I might as well suffer and "bang out that 3rd"(lol!) now while I have no life & am in the mode as it is...
Everyoone tells me that 3rd puts you over the edge... Any thoughts??? TIA!

I have zero advice, as I only have one baby, but this statement alone makes me love you, and I don't even know you You could be my soulmate

Re: The difference between adjusting to 2 compared to adjusting to 3 children
Ive heard (and again I DEF. am not BTDT- but through working in daycare and with 30 women) that going from 1-2 is a big adjustment and then 2-3+ is no big deal...
Once you can juggle more than one child... you are good to go

Going from 0-1 was hard, 1-2 not so hard, 2-3, Im scared to leave the house alone with them. It's hard because you have 3 kids and 2 hands...

Re: The difference between adjusting to 2 compared to adjusting to 3 children
I've had my friends with 3 tell me that it was a difficult adjustment.
A good friend (male) put it in a way that makes perfect sense. Your defense changes from man-to-man to zone. They became a lot stricter & more organized with the 3rd because they had no choice.
My friends with 3+ told me that 3-4 was a very easy transition.
HTH. Good luck with everything!

Going from 2 to 3 is much much harder than 1-2. You never get a break with 3, and I'm afraid to leave the house alone with them sometimes because I don't have enough hands to take care of all of them at once.

Re: The difference between adjusting to 2 compared to adjusting to 3 children
I found 2-3 much harder than 1-2. In retrospect, 1-2 seemed so simple. But I've been doing it for 10 months now and it gets easier, one of the great things about kids is the are ever changing so there's a definite ebb and flow to the whole process. When you have 3 small kids, its definitely challenging, this I know from experience. But I would think 3 kids the are spaced out a bit more can be a challenge in a different way - getting them to their various activities, plans, school events, etc. - that can't be easy either.
I've heard that after you've handled 3 kids, anything more is a piece of cake. I'm not personally finding out though, 3 is enough here

Re: The difference between adjusting to 2 compared to adjusting to 3 children
Besides the man-on-man defense to zone defense concept, you may need to buy a new car. For us, we have no problems with 2 car seats in the car, but if we had another, we'd have to buy a new vehicle. Just another factor to consider. Plus, right now, with two, it's nice. When I'm home, I usually spend one-on-one time with DS, and DW is alone with DD, so both kids have one parent all to themselves. With 3+, someone always has to double-up. I don't know if that's good or bad, just something else to think about.
