The Dossier Process
I am doing what needs to get done to complete my pkg; well, our doctor's office called last night to CANCEL our Saturday appt. And to reschedule is a nightmare since I can there after 7, and they are booked and blah blah blah...urrrrg

Re: The Dossier Process
That's a pain in the neck. A walk in clinic might work but I would call your doctor and give a little plea and maybe they can squeeze you in. Do you need to have your medical paperwork notarized?

Re: The Dossier Process
My doctor's office did it so quick. Dr. Gleason in Smithtown. And there is a notary in the office as well.

Re: The Dossier Process
Sorry Sandra! I would re-book with another doctor or go to walk-in like the other ladies suggested. Good Luck!

Re: The Dossier Process
Ladies-hug:
thank you, I ended calling the office back and stressed how I am there every 3 months for my med check up for my thyroid, and that this is a time sensitive issue, the adoption process, well, we are going on Saturday, at 10:45...the original visit was 11:30. The exam is not even much involved...but if something happens I will go to another doctor, that was what I planned on if the phone call did not work out today.:

Re: The Dossier Process
Excellent! I've found that everyone is a whole lot more accommodating when you tell them you're in the process of adopting. I'm so happy for you! You're almost there!

Re: The Dossier Process
I am driving over to NB on Monday to deliver some of the completed dossier paperwork--that mail experience has left me doubtful of our mail system...but....the Town did r'cv my STAR application- LOL.

Both as far as I know; unless you know something I am sooo unaware of (which I hope not!)

Re: The Dossier Process
Sandra,
Your mail experience turned me into a neurotic mail freak too. It's been over a week since I sent my contract/cash to NB and they haven't cashed the check or sent my package to me, so I was convinced it was lost in the mail. (DH forgot to send it certified like we did with everything else.) So I contacted them and they said they'd send the package out today. I have a feeling if I didn't contact them they would have forgotten. So weird. So now I know for sure I will receive the package next week. Congrats on turning in part of your paperwork. What do you have left to do? Good Luck! I'm jealous that you've gotten so much more done! I have a lot of catching up to do!

Re: The Dossier Process
At Wide Horizon's the process is seperate...first you get all of your homestudy stuff together and then all of your dossier stuff. Many of the docs are the same, such as birth certificate copies/marriage license but I had to do 2 seperate packages for the agency.

Re: The Dossier Process
I got everything today and just finished writing my LONG autobiography! I spent all day on it! Getting DH to do this is going to be a HUGE challenge!

Re: The Dossier Process
I Know what you mean. The autobiography is a pain. Keep in mind that your social worker uses this to do you homestudy too. AGHHHH!
Jenn
Getting closer!
Kepp on top of him. I don't know if I told you this but DH and I are going to travel to Korea. So since you are using the same orphanage Social welfare society, if you have your referral by the time we go there (cause we will probablyget ours first given the time frame) we can get more info for you and pictures. Wouldn't that be cool!

OMG, I have tears in my eyes just thinking a bout that. That would be soooooo incredibly wonderful! I would love to be able to picture where my baby is. Too bad you couldn't meet my baby! I think I'd be jealous if you got to meet him/her before me though! I'm so excited!

Re: The Dossier Process
I know in Ethiopian adoption some of the traveling parents bring gifts over for the waiting families since the mail there is not super fast or as good at delivering things as here. I am sure in Korea you can do some of the same things...sending a photo book is a great thing to do

Re: The Dossier Process
Here's a stupid question. If I wanted to write a letter to the foster/birthmom, how would I go about doing that? I would have to find a Korean translator before I sent it?

Re: The Dossier Process
Maybe the agency can help you with the translation? They have our dossiers translated into local languages.

Re: The Dossier Process
I'm sure your agency can help with translations. If not try doing a search on google because I know there are a ton of places that do it for Chinese adoptions. Also, I heard of alot of people going to the local college and students help out.

Re: The Dossier Process
Do you ladies plan on writing a letter and/or sending gifts to the child's foster parents/orphanages?
