The first time you entertained in your home...
...did you have anxiety about it? Did it go well?
We've had people over for dessert here and there but today we had my parents over for a full meal - brunch - for the first time.
I've never been in a place that we could be proud of, to invite people into our home and not worry about the glaring deficiencies of our residence.
Although it was only my parents, who are easy to please kind of people, I was still worried. But everything went swimmingly. We showed them around again (my parents live in Florida half the year and just got back), chatted about things we have done and will do.
I made loaves of pumpkin bread with chocolate chips yesterday and they came out insanely good. Rusty made french toast, we had coffee, OJ, fresh preserves for the bread, all manner of milk, creamer and sugar for the coffee...
I was just thinking to myself - NOW our house feels like a home.

Re: The first time you entertained in your home...
Congrats on hosting your first brunch!!! Sounds delicious! I used to get very stressed about hosting, but i've been doing it so long now & for such large crowds, I just go with the flow. We often host sunday brunch on our deck in the summer for any family or friends that want to come. Rich is an excellent breakfast food cook & eating outside on a summer morning is my favorite. we've been in our house 4 years & there are still things that aren't done & we always have stuff in the works.

Re: The first time you entertained in your home...
We had a small dinner party 2 months after we moved in. It was fun but stressful. But we liked having our friends over to see our new home. Sounds like you had a great brunch. Sounds very yummy! We look forward to bigger out door parties this summer once the yard is done. I can't wait to eat outside in the summer for breakfast. Watch the birds and just relax.

I hosted a party for one of my friends visiting from Amsterdam and I have to say it was awesome!
I was running around like a nut before everyone got there, but once guests started arriving and I looked around and everyone was having such a great time, it really made me & DH so proud

Re: The first time you entertained in your home...
The first thing we hosted was Easter dinner, last year.
I completely freaked out the week before! DH and I both have large families, so we had to bring in a folding table and chairs to accommodate everyone. I was terrified people were going to scratch the $#!* out of my hardwoods, that there wouldn't be enough seating to hang out after dinner or that they would be bored (because we don't have cable).
I basically stressed myself out for a week, then the day came and everything went really well, everyone had a great time and actually stayed longer than our family dinners usually last

Re: The first time you entertained in your home...
anytime i host a party, i alway have major anxiety about running out of food. for my son's first b-day (held at our home), i totally over ordered food. we had leftovers for a week!
i only cook some minor things, and leave the rest to catering.
