The great bottle standoff - UPDATE
We are trying the cold turkey method of dropping the bottle again. We are now in day 3 - his last bottle was Saturday night. The child has not had anything to drink since then. Surprisingly, I haven't been drinking more.
I think I need a pep talk. It's a battle of wills at this point and I really don't want to cave and start again.
He's in daycare today. We'll see what happens.....
UPDATE - He took it at daycare, yippeeeee! I LOVE his teacher, she is really wonderful.
He gave me a little bit of a hard time at home tonight, but he took it again without too much fuss. I think we got over the hump, FINALLY!

Re: The great bottle standoff
Nothing at ALL to drink?? Wow, Im surprised he made it that long. No advice, I;d have caved on day 1
But sounds like if you havent caved yet you WONT.. stay strong!
But what about dehydration? I guess when he is thirsty enough he willd rink right? In the meantime, I would offer water fruits and ice pops cause I'm a bit nuerotic about that stuff.
But WAY TO GO!!!!

He still has wet diapers and tears, of course when I offer the cup.
I have been giving him lots of applesauce and he's been eating wet oatmeal, and cereal with milk, so I think it's been enough to keep him hydrated. I am worrying that he still won't drink and then I'll notice a drop in the wet diapers. I am hoping that doesn't happen.
Our problem is that he never drank water or juice - not from a cup, not from a bottle, so I knew this was how it was going to go down and it's the main reason we've been putting it off. He also doesn't eat much of a variety of things, so it's been a challenge.

Not even water or juice?
DON'T GIVE IN!!! ds was the same way. He was mad. He was p*ssed off. It lasted a couple of days. By day 5 he started drinking more. By day 10, he accepted it fully and moved on to sippy cups.
I was about to give up too, but a certain somebody talked me out of it and i'm so glad she did.
I'm assuming you've tried all kinds of sippy cups right?
We have a million and ds is partial to the take and toss cups.

I think I could take a mini vacation if I had all the money back I have spent on a variety of sippy cups he won't use.

hmmm what about using a regular cup and putting a straw in it. Just to get him to have something? Or putting a tiny bit of chocolate syrup in the milk?

Re: The great bottle standoff - UPDATE
It sounds like he might be over the hump now, yippeee!!!! And kudos to you for not caving!
You can try a plain cup with or without a straw. DS really can't drink well out of an open cup, but he loves the novelty of it, so it might be worth a shot if you need to get more fluids in him.
