The HALO Sleep Sack that Rips Kids Teeth Out on Clearance at BBB...
I remember hearing a story a few days ago on here about the sleep sack that pulled out a baby tooth..and the coverup of the situation by HALO...
Anyway I bought a sleep sack from Baby Depot yesterday, it had the updated zipper pull that didn't have the hole. It cost $17.99.
Today I was in BBB. I noticed the Sleep Sacks on Clearance for $7.49! I was like, great deal, until I noticed an open package. I looked at it and sure enough it was the one with the the open hole zipper pull!!
I happened to be on line at customer service when I noticed it. So I said to the guy "is this the sleep sack that rips kids teeth out?" And he looks at me like I have horns and replies "I don't know anything about that." Helloooo...you're a customer service rep at a national chain baby store and you can't tell me why a product that is normally $17-$24 is on sale for $7.49?!
I had heard HALO was covering up the issue, so I figured that's why they are still selling the other one at BBB. Also, it was the wintery travel material sleep sacks specifically, so I know its not just going out of season..
Anyway just a heads up for anyone that saw this deal...
ETA - I dont think the product was recalled. I am sure it would've been pulled from BBB if it was.
Also wanted to add that I think its irresponsible for the stores/HALO to not come out and say why these are cheaper. I wont lie- i BOUGHT one. But i already made sure DH is aware that as soon as our DD has teeth we switch to the flat pull ones that we have. I dont think its an issue to buy and use them as long as you are aware there was an issue, and I do not know what the best method is to relay this (other than recall). But I do think its bad for the stores/manufacturer to encourage people to buy these by making the super cheap without telling the public that there was an incident with them. I mean I am sure that this happens with many other products, but I thought it was worth bringing up either way.

Were they recalled? If so I would be outraged as well.
My son hasd been sleeping in those Halo sleep sacks for 3 years with no issues.....it was a freak, random accident I am sure.

I do not believe they were recalled. They were probably just older designs. I've used these sleepsacks on all three of my kids and nothing like that has ever happened. There was one freak incident I read about on here. Maybe there were more, but nothing else I have heard about.

As far as I know, it wasn't a common occurrence, it happened one or two times. Just a freak accident, which Halo took steps to correct. I don't see anything wrong with BBB selling the old design on clearance. Lots and lots of people still use them.

it happened more than once or twice. It's an issue that needs to be fixed and I highly doubt that the clearance on that particular style had nothing to do with the fact that the issue with halo sleepsack was on the news about a week or more ago.
