The mail just arrived and you are invited to a Pool Party in January
What do you think?
I am considering having DS birthday party at the YMCA. The kids will have 1 hour in the heated indoor pool, lifeguard on duty and I plan to hire at least 2 kids from the HS swim team to be IN THE POOL with the kids. After the pool the kids can dry off , get changed, and then have an hour for pizza, cake, and games so they wont be going right out into the cold.
I am on the fence about this wondering what other parents will think. So be honest. What would you think if you got the invite. Would you come? Most kids will be 5-8, and a handful of 4 year olds.

i think its a nifty idea.. like a christmas in july!! do like a really kewel beach party theme for it!

Like I said to you in FM...as long as I don't need to wear a bathing suit, I'm in.
Does the YMCA allow arm floaties? Our neighborhood pool doesn't, that's why I ask. I know my son won't enter the pool without them.
Also...it is cold season. Hopefully too many of your guests won't have the sniffles cause that may prevent the parents from sending their child to the party.
Otherwise...cool idea.

I think so, I plan to check first. I know they have "bubbles" that they put on the kids for swim class, I am sure those would be available.
And yeah... this Mommy aint donning swimwear either... hence the kids from the swim club

Its a pretty "IN" thing to do around here for birthdays...There is a hotel here that does indoor parties around the pool. The kids really love the chance to go swimming in the winter.

Where is "around here". I got the idea from a parenting magazine. We dont have any hotels with pools around here The Y was the closest thing.

My son had his birthday party at Saf T Swim in March.. it was great! Winter is the perfect time to have a pool party!

my kids have gone to them--I never thought they were weird--they are very cool---by then they are dying to swim!

Absolutely. Most parents hang around for most of the parties I've been to, but especially if their DC is in a swimming pool....
I think it's a great idea!

My cousin had my nephew's birthday at Safe T Swin in January. It was fine - no one had any problems with it! They ate and had cake after they swam so all of the kids were changed and dried off by the time they left!
