The Mega Millions Jackpot is now $476 MILLLLLLIONNNN DOLLARS
Is it me or does anyone else have trouble even fathoming what they would do with nearly half a BILLION dollars?
P.S. DH just lost his job and we would be happy with a fraction...

I have plans for that money!
We are both out of work.. first order of business.. pay off our debt. Every cent.
Second.. give half away to family and friends and worthy causes.
Thirds. set up a some savings/investments for our kids and our retirement.
Next.. Set up a couple of businesses that will create a revenue for us to live on.
Then.. Set up a non-profit aimed at helping the disappearing middle class.
Finally.. go on a long, fabulous vacation with those we love most.

At work, we enter pools on occasion and always talk about how nice it would feel to get up and walk out and say see ya!!!
(Although I probably would still want to work for something to do  ).

  I can't even imagine, hopefully there will be more than 1 winner that is a lot of money for one person. It would be nice to see several peoples lives changed by that amount of money.

Wow!! I envy the lucky person who is going to score that jackpot!!! 
First, I would go on a shopping spree of epic proportions!!!  How much fun would it be to buy without a care in the world??
Then I would pay off all of my debts.
I would buy a ridiculous house.
I would buy all the cars I've dreamed of.
And then once all of that is out of my system I would give some to close family and friends so we could all live a happy, carefree life with no financial worries. I would set up a trust for my DD so she never has to worry about money ever. I would donate some to charities. And then we'd both travel, pursue dreams that we otherwise couldn't because of financial constraints, and basically...........enjoy life!!!!
I sure hope I win!!

I would create a site "LIFunderground", and pay Ron for every thread that he pulls, and put it on my site..... Nothing but drama threads. No vendors to worry about upsetting, no fees. Horrible business model, but who cares?....
Oh, yeah, and helping kids and paying off debts....

OMG!! I cant imagine what the hell I would do with that type of money!! I def would pay of my debts and my familiy memeber debts 1st. Then I would make sure I put money away for my DD. Buy everyone a house!! Travel the world. And then I would love to do random acts of kindness..love to surprise people kind of like the woman who went around paying off people lay aways! Oh how I could dream!!!

Wait a while before we collect
1. Get an accountant
2. Get a lawyer
3. Pay off all bills, mtgs etc
4. Invest wisely to live off interest only
5. Retire my family
6. Open restaurant w my sister
7. Go into full time voulnteer work

I would pay off all my families debt. Ours, our parents, and siblings.
I would then call an accountant.
Give a certain amount of money to parents/siblings.
I would set up trusts for my kids for the future and for college. This would be very strict and have lots of provisions.
I would set up a trust for my neices and nephews. I have 14 so that's a nice chunk
I would donate my house to our church
I would donate money to certain charities
We would build our dream house here. By dreamhouse I don't mean mansion...I mean a home to acomodate the family size we want and the ability for me to live there even when I am unable to get around because of the RA.
We would buy new hybrid cars
DH would buy a BMW K series motorcycle
We would buy a condo or house in Traverse City or Mackinac Island
We would go on a very nice long vacation
Put the rest away and live on the interest.
I would also shop. I would decorate my homes with some help, but I would want to be involved..
Buy new clothes
Work out in my home gym so I don't die at 35 because i'm so fat and lazy

Nope... no trouble fathoming that kind of money at all....
I can picture getting DH and I (and our families and friends settled) then traveling... donating and volunteering to give back... traveling more...

I could certainly find a use for all of it..probably $250mm after taxes.
Disappear, go underground as fast as I could. Let the financial pros handle the gazillions of requests for my money.
Then go on an extended vacation. Bring family members in small groups.
Make sure my family was comfortable.
Invest for ourselves and future generations.
Donate, donate, donate. All kinds of charities.
The rest..well it will just come when it's time.

After hiring a lawyer, financial planner, & accountant....
Pay off mortgage and all debts.
Donate my old car to charity and buy a Prius.
Give generous monetary gifts to our families.
Buy a bigger house (nothing extravagant or ostentatious, just bigger) and hire a decorator.
Take an extended leave of absence at work so DH & I can travel. I'd love to go on a world cruise!
Take our families on a nice, long vacation.
Invest, save, and set up college funds for our future children.

Omg... I know EXACTLY what I would do with it.
* I would pay off the house we're in contract with in cash.
* Buy my mom a house in the same area.
* Pay off my student loans
* Purchase 2 new (but realistic) cars.
That's It.
I wouldn't do anything else with it for awhile and hire a financial planner.

Oh man what I wouldn't do with that money...Besides buying a few houses, cars, traveling, donating, investing and giving the rest to family, I would definitely quit working, live off the interest of the invested part and solely devote myself to volunteering and making other people's live easier.

i would probably faint... it is so funny b/c all i can think of off the top of my head is to pay off all our debt and spend all my time with DS b/c i would love to be a SAHM!

My BFF and I were just talking about this today. We are splitting it if one of us wins. Then we are buying 2 big, but not too big, houses right next to each other. We're going to sit on the porch and drink iced tea in the morning after the kids go to school. We're going to travel during the summer.
I would help as many people as I could with it.
