The Mommy Chop

Is anyone considering this? I did when Patrick was a baby. My hair is driving me nuts. It is EVERYWHERE. It falls out in abundance. I'm in such fear that it's going to wrap around my daughters fingers/toes/wrists or ankles.

I did right before his Christening which was about 7 weeks. I figured it would be easier to style and dry...... I TOTALLY regret doing it. My hair grows somewhat slow and it grew great over pregnancy I also figured if it was shorter it wouldn't get in his way... Nope, as soon as I cut it he started pulling hair and now that it was to my chin he could get a real good grip and there wasn't much I could do because now it was too short to put up and it took longer to style.
Edited to add. I never lost the extra hair, just my normal fall-winter shed.

Nooooooooo... I refuse! I just can't pull off short hair so I don't even consider it an option for me. And since pg my hair has grown alot so it's down to the middle of my back right now.

Yeah, Jake loves to tug on my hair and I have found several strands of it wrapped around his chubby little fingers but I've never really worried about it. Hair breaks very easily. Anyway, I tie my hair up when I am at home.

I also didn't lose extra hair - just my normal shedding which is usually alot anyway.

Re: The Mommy Chop

I lost a lot of hair in the first few months too. My face is too round to pull off short hair. There was no way I was going to cut my hair. Eventually, my hair stopped falling out...Chat Icon

I am in such a hair rut that I need a change but not sure if I'm daring enough to cut some of it off....I might color instead.

Re: The Mommy Chop

Not sure if this helps. I'm not due until May, but my stylist already warned me that when and if you shed PP, it looks much better if it's short. I usually tend to trust her. But I tend to be more comfortable with short hair than most people. I already chopped it out of frustration b/c I don't have the energy to dry the long hair this winter.

Re: The Mommy Chop

When I was preggo I was having a bad day and got a lot chopped off, regretted it after i did it. I can't pull of short hair. My hair has since grown back even longer and i am losing it in fistfulls, but that will eventually stop.

Also, my DH would KILL me if I cut my hair again!

Re: The Mommy Chop

I had cut my hair right before I got PG...and I hated it....it was too short to pull back into a poney tail...but to long to keep it out of my face. It was a big pain in the butt while I was trying to change diapers at 3 in the morning.

I vowed that next time around I will keep my hair long...so that I can pull it back if I want to...or sytle it hot and sexy for DH when we actually get a chance to spend time together alone.

Re: The Mommy Chop

See for me...shorter hair is more work...You gotta blow it under, or blow out the angles....on me...short hair dosent look good unless its styled!

My hair grow so nice and long while preggo. Ive decided to grew it out to my azz... if its start looking ratty, Im gonna donate it...but if it stays healthy and pretty...Im gonna keep it!
