The more I read anout IVF, the more nervous I get.
I know it seems silly. We still have to see the urologist, but most likely we will be doing IVF. My sister did this for both pregnancies and was giving me information about it. I know I should be thankful that I can have children and that my medical will cover most of the expenses, but I am still a little uneasy.
Scott already told me he can not give me the shots, so I will be doing that myself, I am sure I will get over it.
Also I have been trying to lose weight for the last 4 months. It has been slow, but steady. My sister warned me that the medication will most likely cause weight gain. I am already overweight.
I know this all sounds petty considering what the outcome will bring us. I guess I am just having my own pitty party and will have to get over it. I know I will. It's just that we have been through so much these last few years and I know it is just one more obstacle in the road that we will get through.
Sorry for the rambling.

Thank you. My sister did this twice and says it really isn't bad. Now she has three beautiful little boys. And to everyone's surprise (especially her's) she is pregnant, on her own with number four.

it is very overwhelming in the beginning, but it is rally not a difficult process. Scott may change his mind about the shots, but I did mine myself at times and it was really fine. hang in there

The preparation is much more overwhelming than the actual process. It's a lot to take in, but once you start it goes along very smoothly.
And the end result WILL be worth it!!

Absolutely!
My husband was the same way about the shots and I'm a huge baby when it comes to needles (not anymore though...), but after seeing that I was having such a difficult time giving the shots to myself (I just couldn't do it), he totally took over. It also helped him in regards to feeling like he was part of the entire IVF process with me. When push came to shove, he totally stepped up to the plate, Scott may do the same.

It seems like a big deal and the prep is a pain, but honestly (at least for me) it wasn't bad at all. In fact, after it was over I was mad at myself for putting it off for so long because I was scared about what a long/difficult process I thought it was going to be. Good luck to you.

I was the same way as you! it really is so overwhelming at first.. but once you get started, and have your schedule, it makes it even easier! giving yourself the shots is scary after the first one.. but then its so easy! you can do it !!

I agree w/Gerty. Plus, all the wonderful advice/insights from the girls here made it much easier to absorb.
I didn't think I could do the shots either, but they're not that bad at all.

Re: The more I read anout IVF, the more nervous I get.
Honestly, I found IVF not as big a deal as I thought it was going to be. I gave myself all the sub-q shots and when DH was working the intramuscular as well - no problem at all. I did not gain any weight - just got a bloated feeling a few days before retrieval due to all of the activity going on by then.
Good Luck!

Re: The more I read anout IVF, the more nervous I get.
Thank you all so much for the support and advice. I think lately I was just feeling down. Scott and I have been married 5 years today (yeah!) and I have just been thinking about everything we have had to deal with.
Unfortunately we lost 3 out of 4 of our parents and now dealing with infertility. But in my heart I know that things will only get better from here.
So again, thank you. I think I just needed to vent and get over it. I am just happy that we can have children.

Re: The more I read anout IVF, the more nervous I get.
Let me tell you, it was even a hard pill to swallow knowing I had no choice but to go to IVF. And the entire thing just seemed daunting. I totally get where you're coming from.
And honestly, it is overwhelming at first when you look at your IVF calendar and its loaded with stuff to do. But honestly, once you're in it, its really not that much. And if you have questions we've all BTDT and are here to totally support you and help you along the way.
As always, our big thing around here is vent away
Best of luck to you!!

Re: The more I read anout IVF, the more nervous I get.
It is definitely scary at first, but once you start stimming, it flies by and you get excited that you are that much closer to your BFP!
I will tell you though that I was an absolute mess from ER to ET to testing. I have never had anxiety issues, but oh boy I was so worried that something would go wrong. I tried to calm myself down but it did not work and I only really relaxed when I got that BFP! So try to set up some plans for things you can do to control your stress level and take your mind off things if this happens to you. Things you know have worked for you in the past. The only time I was relaxed was when I was at home watching TV- that's my sanctuary!
Also, I gained weight with my IUI's but with my IVF I lost 5 lbs! And I know it was directly related to my anxiety, it was very similar to how I felt the week before getting married- you're just so anxious to get there and want everything to go right!
Good luck, you have all of us here to support you!

Re: The more I read anout IVF, the more nervous I get.
Hey! I totally understand your nerves. Two years ago we went to an RE and I totally freaked out about IVF. I couldn't do it. So the my husband had a vasectomy reversal, but it failied. Two years later and I am doing IVF. I still don't necessarily like what I will be doing to my body.... but the idea of having our own baby is what is keeping me from letting the nerves get to me too much.
Good luck on your journey!
