The NERVE! You guys will LOVE this one!

I start school back in Florida on Monday It is a full week that all staff has to go in and then the students begin on Aug 18th.

Last year, as a guidance counselor, we had to begin earlier, and that's usually the case. I was DREADING the thought of going back and starting even earlier than the 11th and we really were not getting confirmation one way or another if we were expected to do this. We found out recently that we were not going back until the 11th when the rest of the staff began.

So get this - today at 3:50 pm - I get a text message and a phone message from my guidance director - in the text she wrote that she was sorry for the late notice, but the interim principal - new principal - whole other story - wanted us to report to work TOMORROW if we were available!!!!

Ummm - WT F?????? Yeah right!!!!! Ummm - I'm still in NY, one of my girlfriends flew home to PA today for a wedding - 4 pm the day before you're going to request gc's show up for work on the last day of vacay??????

I think that if my azz was sitting back in Florida right now and still not in NY, I still would not be going in tomorrow, just on principle.

I don't know if this is a vent or more of just I had to share because it is so friggin unbelievable to me!!!!

eta - to my knowledge - it was just guidance who was requested to go in tomorrow

Wow- I hate admins who have no consideration for others' time. I got a similar message from an AP once about an awards ceremony- nothing said at all, then the day of I get a message saying, "You'll be there, right?"

Aren't guidance counselors part of the union? Is it in your contract that you go back early or do you get paid for the day? If this was my district and it wasn't in the contract for guidance to go back early and we were being asked to, the union would be up in arms!! Good luck next year though!
