And don't buy it on Ebay.....the sellers are having their auctions pulled since Sony put a ban on Ebay. Those sellers are losing their reserves at the stores for selling on Ebay, so you won't be getting your system.
A guy I work with has his brother standing on line for just this reason - so they can turn around and sell it at a profit.
Can you tell me where you saw this info that Sony's putting a ban on it? I see PS3's up for auction now, this one is currently at $1975 with 27 bids, and 2 hours left in the auction!

That is seriously disturbing! To spend $2k on a gaming/entertainment port. My DH loves his PS2 but even he thought $600 was ridiculous and unnecessary. He will wait awhile till the price and hype has died down.

My husband said the same thing. He buys things we have never even used just because he likes to have them. He is very into technology. The money is not the issue, it's having to go through the hassle of finding one, etc. And I'll be damned if I am camping out overnight for a PS3.

my husband works for EB Games/Gamestop and Sony informed their corporate headquarters of this policy.
The posted receipts are traced back to the store in which they were reserved and that store informs said buyer that they are no longer going to get their reserved unit.
Chances are the winning bidder will not get their system. Some sellers are blacking out the store information and can't be traced. They should be reported to Ebay.

i dont understand how sony can say that you can't resell their system  i mean, granted, i think that anyone who's willing to pay $2K for a video game is a moron... or reallyjust has nothing better to do with their money,but STill... it should be Their choice....

There were lines in front of circuit city and target already today.
Supposedly the next shipment of them is not coming in until APRIL so they are going to sell for big bucks on Ebay.
I don't know why there are 80 people in line... each store is only getting 10-20 units. Most of those people are sitting out there and have no chance of getting one anyway.

I am SO GLAD my DH won't buy Sony products. That is the ONLY reason he's not into the PS3. Lord knows when the XBox 360 came out he was begging for it like a little boy.

DH camped out about 7 hrs before Best Buy opened for PS 2 and he was in the back of the store! People are nuts!

I just looked them up on ebay.. the PREORDERS ( $100 deposit that promises you will get a playstation) are going for $1500-$2000 PLUS
and then you still have to pay for the balance of the system at the store

My Dh loves video games, but he is not about to wait on line to get one. Not that he has time anyway!
He plays alot of games on the computer and so do all his friends. That works great for him.
I am sure he will want one when the price goes down.
$600 for a video game system is way too much money!!!

My DH has his Nintendo Wii reserved for weeks and weeks now. He reserved it at Nintendo World in the city, and now they aren't opening at midnight Sat. night, while Toys R Us in Times Square and every other store is. He's really annoyed. He plans on being on line starting Sat afternoon, possibly going to the launch party at Toys R Us, and getting his Wii from Nintendo World at 6am Sunday morning. Then some of the guys are coming back to our place to play all day Sunday.
Needless to say, I have made other plans.
I agree with everyone who says it's ridiculous, but video games really are his "thing" and he rarely spends money on himself otherwise.

some of you see this as a video game and its more then just a "game"
Its a entertainment center, sought of like a Audio/Video receiver....
This is the newest techonlogy in terms of Blu-Ray DVD's... and Playstation combined
This system happens to be the same price as the XBOX 360 withs = and opposite HD-DVD player
People mention things are on Ebay being blacked out.... This is to protech there credit and name info. These are just presales... When we actually get the systems, they may go for a little bit more as the demand way out numbers supply as Sony keeps slipping up.
In regards to waiting in line, not all people are looking to cash in..some peope acutally want it and depending how long you wait in line (some places have been online since Monday ( a whole week) you really profit as you miss work and could of been doing other things.
Sony pretty much changed how we play games and thats why people want this product.
You are looking at stores that will be getting around 10-20 systems each. The xbox shortage was bad for a couple of months...these is 2x bad..
Don't expect to find one till Feb or even March of next year
The new Nintendo system will be a blast to play with and its speculated that the demand at first (first week or two) will be out numbed but they will come though with all there systems hitting the stores...
