The nurse just called...

from my RE's office. She didn't tell me what my level was but said that my dr. wants me to get bloodwork done one more time- on Saturday morning. Then after that I'll be moving onto injections. Chat Icon I asked her a few questions and she said usually the injections are 8-10 days, 1x a day (Between 6-8 at night).
Then I'll be monitored by bloodwork and sonograms. She said it would most likely be Gonal-F. For those of you who have taken this, what should I expect? TIA!

Re: The nurse just called...

I take Gonal-F...my first cycle (when I overstimmed) I did 11 days of Gonal-F and then the Ovidrel on the 12th day. This cycle I did 14 days and then Ovidrel on the 15th day. I do them at 9pm.

I start on day 3, then go in for monitoring 3 days later, then every other day until I'm ready. Gonal-F comes in a pen where you dial up the dose...I get the 900 iu pen so I usually wind up needing 1 and a half pens per cycle. it is easy to do and your RE will probably make you go to a "class" - my class was just DH and me sitting with the nurse while she showed us how to do it. DH gives me the shots in my belly, it doesn't hurt at all - just make sure you pinch the skin (and a little bit more) really hard and you won't even feel the needle.

As far as side effects - I felt great on the injectibles - a million times better than on Clomid. I had no side effects to speak of. The Ovidrel was not too much fun, but that's just bloating and ovary pain when you ovulate and for a few days after.

With PCOS your RE should be really careful because we have a tendency to overstim.

I have to say after getting so many sonos and there being no growth, it is really fun to watch those follies growing and hearing those rising estradiol levels! I loved it - I am sick LOL.

Good luck to you, of course if you have any questions feel free to FM me any time...I feel like we have very similar stories and you are where I was two months ago...Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: The nurse just called...

As Carolyn mentioned, Gonal-F can come in a pen, or it can come in powder where you mix. I've done both. Either way, no big deal.

Good luck Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
