Re: The officer in teh brooklyn shootings has died.. soo sad..
I am heartbroken, as we all are, over this. A 23 year old HERO who didn't deserve his fate. G-d bless him.
This story gave me chills this morning. Although I may "go off the deep end" as some might say, I do hope in the future we remember what Michael Daly wrote today in the Daily News...
The next time a cop makes a mistake as any human can, remember that procession past Timoshenko's body and remember how those cops left only more willing to risk the same fate for the sake of making this a safer city in which to raise our kids.

Only 23 years old. I was really hoping that he'd make it.

I wonder where Al Sharpton is now???
DH is a cop and I always try not to thin bad thoughts about him at work possibly getting hurt, but this situation makes it so hard b/c cops to car stops ALL the time. And you just dont know who is behind the wheel?

I couldn't agree more!!!
That poor Police Officer... I'm SO angry and SO sad all at the same time. I feel awful for his family.
I can't even put into words what I think should happen to the animals that murdered him.

This quote kind of bothers me. The cops did not make a mistake. I'm sure once the other cop starts talking we will find out more about what happened, but I dont think the cops knew the car was stolen. They did know the license plate didnt match the vehicle but that doesnt always mean the car was stolen. In Dh's precinct people do this all the time. They dont want to register their vehicles b/c they dont want to pay for insurance so they will steal a license plate or use one they find. If they know a car is stolen, they usually get them out of the car but will call for back up first. I think the police dept. now needs to change how they deal with these situations. DH pulls people over all the time for the license plate not matching the vehicle.

He is referring to OTHER times - not this particular incident, kwim? He is saying that the NEXT time we hear of a cop doing something "wrong" remember this moment when all of his brothers paid their respects to him and then climbed into their squad cars and headed back out to do their jobs. It flows a little better with the two paragraphs before this quote.
And I'm in the same boat as you.

I am almost certain this quote refers to OTHER incidents in which a police officer makes a "mistake" by firing to early...too many times whathaveyou (ie Sean Bell, Amadou Diallo and cases like that) not the officers actions in this case, that led to them being shot.

Re: The officer in teh brooklyn shootings has died.. soo sad..
One of my good friends used to be in that precinct. She's retired now but the thought that it could have been her... and meanwhile this story makes her wish she was BACK there. The majority people who sign up for this job really are a special breed.
I knew he wasn't going to make it from what my friend told me, so I'm just glad he didn't suffer long.

I'm pretty sure Sharpton calls the media himself, they don't just go and find him.
And of course he's not calling them now. POS that he is.

Since he's still not appologized for Tawana Brawley I highly doubt that the good Reverend is EVER concerned with right and wrong.

I'd actually say its 50/50.
He definitely calls them out to his press conferences, but they also turn around and run to him for filler comments on other topics. He's an easy get.
I'd like to see the reporter chase him down now.
