The Prince, the Princess & the Pirate: an Easter story
My kids are so lucky that I married their father.
I just woke up from a nap (I was up at 3am with Maddie).
I found the kids playing in the living room. They were coloring WITH PERMANENT MAGIC MARKERS. Some of you may remember this was done RIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS PICTURES the last time. I was planning on taking Easter pictures tomorrow. At first I was a little upset because I saw it was all over their hands. Tomorrow they were getting Easter pictures taken.
I started yelling to clean up immediately & they were going to soak in a bath.
Then I hear Joseph whisper to Maddie, "No don't show her!"
I said, "Did you draw on the couch?!"
He said "No. Maddie you can show her."
She lifts up her shirt
I see circles all over her front. I was ready to flip out & said "Go show your father." so I didn't start screaming like a banshee.
They come upstairs from showing him & then Joseph says "Mommy. We need to show you something else" Maddie turns around their are circles ALL OVER HER BACK too.
Rendered almost speechless, I choke out the words, "Go clean your rooms immediately. I'm throwing out all of the magic markers"
DH comes up the stairs laughing. I said "This ISN"T FUNNY! These are NOT the Easter pictures I wanted!!!"
He said "Yes they are. They are EXACTLY what you want."
I said "He drew circles all over her body!"
He starts laughing “Exactly.”
Maddie comes out & pulls up her shirt. It's only then that I realize Joseph drew a princess on her front & a prince on her back.
Applause to DH for showing me the humorous side to this. As not as amused as I was, he's right. These are our kids' Easter photos.
So without further ado, here are my Easter photos. Happy Easter from the Prince & Princess and the newly discovered Pirate.
