The Return of my MIL and the PnP-Update 3/27

If you all remember (which I am sure you don't b/c it is totally unimportantChat Icon ) around Christmas, my SIL told my MIL to send us her old, used pack and play and my SIL took the one I picked off my registry. So, I just put it back on and ignored the whole thing.

Fast foward to last night, my MIL says that it would cost way too much money to send the old one (duh) so she is just going to order the same one for us. My DH asked her why she didn't just buy the one off of our registry and she said she didn't like the colorChat Icon

So, here is my silly little question, our shower is in 4 weeks, should I take the pnp off of my registry or wait til this elusive one from my MIL shows up?

UPDATE 3/27
And the story just gets funnier....since I stalk my registry, I know that someone bought my pack and play. I was kind of hoping that my MIL actually bought that one.....

So...lo and behold I am told there is a surprise here when I get home. So, think that since the one off my registry JUST got purchased, it has to be one my MIL sent (oh my SIL "slipped up" and told me she ordered a pnp)

It's not....it's the same idea....same brand, not a pattern I love tho.

So, what do I do? We are now getting the other pnp from the registry and this one from my MIL, which do I return? MIL is coming to visit and will ask to see it....Chat Icon Chat Icon

this is too funny!

Leave the one YOU want on there. If you get it..... great. Then return the one she buys you, and either buy the one you want or if you do get it, you have extra money for something else you need.

Re: The Return of my MIL and the PnP

Leave the one you want on your registry. Reminds me of my aunt with my bridal registry.

Do we have the same MIL???? This totally sounds like something she would do. I would leave it on your registry and return the one she gets you. Some people are so unbelievable!

I agree. It's not hers so b/c she doesn't like the color shouldn't matter. Leave the one you want on, and return the one she gets you.

OMG-I am not PG but I just had to comment. This lady has some set of balls! First your SIL for taking something off YOUR registry and trying to give you some hand me down??? And then your MIL picking something because SHE DIDN"T LIKE THE COILOR? INAPPROPRIATE!!!! I would be filipping out! Hopefully she comes to her sense to you don't have to go and return something that was incorrect in the first place!

Definitely leave the one you want on there and then return or exchange hers. It's not what she wants its what you want.

It is hysterical, isn't it?Chat Icon Chat Icon

I guess it is the thought that counts, but still. I mean, I was telling DH that I saw a major difference between my MIL and me last night. I have been whining about how my shower is far away, late, etc, but when it comes down to it, my family is throwing me a nice party and OF COURSE I will go. She was pretty much telling me to tell them f you and not goChat Icon And she is serious! I mean, with the whole pnp situation, I would buy someone what THEY wanted, even if it wasn't what I thought was best if I knew that, you know?

She and DH aren't close, so he usually thinks she is nuts too, which always helpsChat Icon Chat Icon

OMG, how ridiculous! All over a PNP, please get ready for insanity with them when the baby is bornChat Icon

I would keep the one YOU registered for and the one YOU like. Return the other way and buy something else.

It's beyond rude to look in people's houses for gifts you give them, tough on her, she should have bought you the one YOU LIKED!

Re: The Return of my MIL and the PnP-Update 3/27

This is like the funniest thing I ever heard.

I would stand up to her and say its great , thans but its NOT the style you wanted and since someone already got you the one YOU wanted, what should you do with it? OR keep it and use it for a relatives house?

Chat Icon Chat Icon I remember this story. UNbelievable. I would definately keep the one you like. MIL must learn you call the shots in your home sometime. She might as well start learning now.

Of course, maybe I'm just hormonal.

I am truly amazed by the audacity of some people. Keep the one of your registry and when your MIL comes and sees and and asks why it's not the one she bought - look her in the eye and say "I didn't like the COLOR"!

ITA! Your house, your baby, your preferences. It's not like she didn't want to spend the money and you're being ungrateful...she spent the money, just on a DIFFERENT one than you wanted!!

Keep what YOU like!

I agree. Take a stand now and maybe this woman will get the hint it's not about what she wants/likes.

how old is MIL??? Keep the one you want and ordered. Its YOUR choice not hers. If she asks why just tell her you also received the one you registered for and like the other one better or tell her it matches the babies other things. She cant get mad at that. Once she sees her grandchild she won't be thinking of the packnplay

Re: The Return of my MIL and the PnP-Update 3/27

I think the fact the one from the registry was bought for you makes it easier! Just return your MILs, and tell her that one you registered for was bought.
